Willet splits with Caddie

This in itself is not unusual. What is different is that it looks as though it is the caddie that has walked away. It doesn't mention whether he has another player lined up but I tend to think good for him.

Anyone heard more about this?

Yeah more like 'Caddie splits with Willett'. Surprised he managed as long as he did to be honest. Willett is as spiky as they come and it must have got to breaking point.

All gone a bit Pete Tong for Willett since his green jacket hasn't it.

He got too big for his boots after his Masters win,he and his caddy were teenage friends but he was giving the fella too much stick during tournament play so he walked, defo going Pete Tong for Willet..

Couldn't care less, but this gets my back up...

"WE are still working hard to get the game in shape to get back playing the golf WE know WE can play."

Nearly as much as people.saying "Well done you"

Irritates me no end as well but he's not the only one that does it. Why??

It happens all the time with players and caddies going separate ways and I'm sure caddies effectively sack players on occasions. It's clear Willett isn't playing great and that can't help the caddy/pro relationship but the timing seems a little strange so close to the start of the Players

Can you clarify how he "got too big for his boots" ?

He won the Masters and it seemed to have overwhelmed him a bit and he struggled with the it appears the weight of being the Masters Champion - he is a confident person yes but "too big for his boots" ? It's just a phrase normally given to people who think they are better but nothing to back it up - he has a green jacket

I don't know/follow Willet closely enough to know what he's like to work with. If his caddy has had enough, then time to go. It can't be easy to be 'working' for a friend anyway. As for Willet being too big for his boots, don't know about that either. Every sportsman needs plenty of self confidence in order to succeed. This can come across less than favourably depending on their character. Willet doesn't strike me as being particularly nasty, but as I say, I've not followed him closely.

I've heard plenty of golfers say this, and yes I find it a bit daft as well. But surely if he's just lost his caddie it makes even less sense. Who is the 'we'? Him and his coach? 'we can play' doesn't make sense since the coach doesn't play...

I dont have to clarify anything but just agree with Pinseeker that Willets heads way too up his own backside.

So just a statement of words based on watching him play golf ? You said he is "too big for his boots" - in what way ? Or do you have zero basis for it just like when you spouted a pile of rubbish about McIlroy

Have you both met him to decide that as I didn't get that at all when I met him and I had a good 30 mins with him and he was a gent.

Tbh I haven't met him personally.
I know a few kids that have and they didn't share your opinion on him.
I also think he comes across as a bit of a knob.
Just my opinion tho.

Fair enough, everyone has an opinion but having met him I thought he was spot on.
