Came across this recent photo of where the HS2 would go via Aylesbury and to say its turned into a flood pain would be an understatement!

So, I wonder if anyone from HS2 are reconsidering routes or any of the anti-HS2 brigade are now revisiting objections based on the recent flooding because based on this picture and some of the fields around my course which resemble lake Malawi, the HS2 wouldn't be running and I can't see them being able to construct lines for fast trains on such low, soft flood plains!

Some of it is going though tunnels so I suppose it could be a factor.

Having said that, this has been exceptional weather and rainfall.
If they build the track high enough and the foundations are deep enough I suspect it won't cause too many issues.

There's a lot of viaducts so water could be an issue and if they have to secure footings even greater now, its given them an excuse to blow the budget, which would have got blown anyway!

If we are lucky then the money that is going to have to be spent on repairing and relaying the damaged tracks from the current inclement weather they won't be able to fund the building of HS2.

Lets hope that a bit of good will come from recent events and hs2 will be cancelled. Spending billions on one new route when the rest of the network is in dire need of modernisation, is ridiculous.

On Andrew Marr show Pickles said HS2 was happening come what may...

Was also noted, earlier in the show, that the chap at head of NHS I.T. fiasco is now with the HS2 project... Do our ministers never learn?
