Hate to say it..but fantastic play from Mickelson today. Best form I've seen him on for many a month. He carried Kim for two rounds. Please someone tell the boy he played like a sack of tatties. Think he contributed on one hole and that was in the second round. Can't see him getting any joy in the singles if he continues to play like that.

Mightily impressed by Soren Hansen, Lee Westwood, Graham McDowell, Ian Poulter and Justin Rose. Unfortunately everyone else had an off day, although I thought Padraig putted well in the fourballs.

Great entertainment...especially that Westwood/Hansen fourball. Wow. Drama and amazing golf.

I'm predicting a wee comeback tomorrow. Sergio and Padraig canny play that badly again surely?

Hope you're right about the conmeback on Saturday J-F. I feel that this is a totally different American team. They are actually a Team this time! Mickelson is playing well and has risen to the role of on course leader very very well. He did exactly what was required of him yesterday in guiding the youngster round the course. I hope our guys get a good nights sleep and that they don't get too down on themselves. They didn't play too badly and just need to be patient today. The Americans can't get all the good breaks this weekend....surely !

Amazing how the lack of Tiger has meant that they can gel better as a team. Wonder if past captains have pandered to Tiger too much. Mickelson wouldn't have won those points had he been paired with Tiger as in previous years.

Kim was carried but he's worryingly getting better each game. Looking at the foursomes draw for Saturday I can't see it better than 2-2 for Europe so they're really going to have to pull it out in the fourballs. Don't want to go into singles trailing, as others have pointed out this is a very driven US team and with home support. Who'd have thought Mahan/Leonard would be so effective!
Westwood and Garcia dropped for 4 somes - good or bad?
Something's got to give as 1 win from 8 matches ain't great. Glad for Poulter's sake he's doing ok.

Bit of a strange decision I think, but at least Wilson will get a game so we can see what he's made of and hopefully Casey will stay on the sideline until the singles. Casey was woefull on Friday.

Here's hoping our boys in match 4 can hit a fairway today! Now lets just start well like yesterday...and actually keep it going!

There are stil 20 points up for grabs and we're only 3 behind. Don't panic, don't panic.... :D

Went to bed terribly disappointed last night, only cheered up a little by the half point.

This reminds me a bit of valderrama when Seve was captain. I think thats what we need today is a big prescence on the sidelines rabble rousing, faldo was invisible yesterday? he needs to get stuck in, the boys need to be a bit more edge-ier, the need to bust some rulings or slow down, try and take the yanks out of tempo. There needs to be a liitle contoversy from europe to really get the yanks crazy then they will get mad and start trying to bury europe and then they will suffer, at the moment its just target practice for them.

Cmon Faldo supporet your team, make it look like you care, get angry, get mad and get even.

COME BACK SEVE, WHERE ARE YOU WHEN WE NEED YOU?

Agree that Faldo needs to be a bit more evident today. He MUST play a Captains role today.

Don't agree that trying to wind up the USA team will bring any rewards. That crowd will be at fever pitch today, they're in the lead and they're on home soil. 'Zinger has them well versed in how to try and wind up our guys if the papers are correct today (cheering our bad shots / missed putts.)

Lets play the game in the spirit it's meant to be played and try and beat them fair and square. Thats how we are going to have any chance of silencing the crowd and winning the matches.

The yanks played superb golf yesterday-chip ins long putts made and we could have lost the opening day by more than 3 points. Felt MCDowell and Harry got hit by a runaway train to shot 63 and lose is no shame. Kims tap in birdie on 6 was a real sucker punch. McDowell was unlucky he did not get the roll back to the pin Kim got.

Hopefully the chip ins will stop shoryt or go long.

Just heard on Sky Garcia has blistered feet, Westwood wanted to play.

Lets hope europe plays well and gets back to 9-7 at the end of the day at least.
