It is because of the awful outfits they are made to wear.
Even my wife said who would wear a knitted sweater with a big US flag on it.
Clearly the players are trying not to draw too much attention to themselves by making birdies.

The one with The Ryder Cup on it was equally weird - kind of like something your granny would knit!

They also weren't all matching on Saturday as some had tartan troos and some had a dark blue cord trouser. Perhaps nothing or perhaps another sign of no real team ethic.

I liked the red trousers navy tops combo, but everything else was rubbish

The Team Europe Sunday zip up sweater top was awesome though

Really want that but not at £100!!!!!!!

The WAGS always intrigue me. Did they start off with Barbie Doll tendancies or does that have to come with the territory...I assume the former in the main but there must be some who met in college or something and may hate the whole "image" but have to conform.

Either way - sorry Rickie, handsome as you are it's just not for me

The USA first day sweaters reminded me of cheesy Christmas jumpers.

Also, can't remember if it was day 1 or day 2, but the Europeans were wearing different shades of blue trousers.

its could be a number of things..

The us college circuit don't play much in the way of match play? (according to two of the young guns at my club who are at a US college)
The type of course you play in the US are all quit similar and your game can maybe get a bit one dimensional?

Many Us pro's don't venture outside the US except maybe the ones who come to the open and are uneasy being away from home?

They are all full of themselves and believe the crap all the hangers on kissing there behinds tell them 24-7;)

or could it be they have only lost the last 3 in a row- way less than Europ have lost in a row.

America are by far the better overall players with depth in their squad- not winning a single foursomes killed them- horrible format and I'd rather see greensomes than foursomes as you would see better games in my humble opinion.

Quite a few top European Golfers went to American Colleges. Does anyone really believe those US guys were not trying their level best to win? IMO it just came down to the Euros playing better overall.

To use the words of a great Englishman (Who had an American Mother) "In Victory: Magnanimity"

Because they dont play as a team - they don't gel

They have a loosing mentality right now

Perfect example - During this Ryder Cup

Westwood went second in the points total for Europe

Whilst Furyk became the holder of the worst Ryder Cup record

The longest losing streak for Europe is three, (1979,81 & 83).

Also the World Rankings would suggest that the US do not particularly enjoy greater strength in depth. The foursomes format also has little to do with it, as in recent times the US have won the foursomes.

The two most recent contests would suggest that these so called "superior" American players can't handle the pressure, particularly in the singles.

Tour Golfers dont play in teams normally, they don't really do much of it in the Ryder cup either, they play a few days in pairs and finally in singles. Not really team playing as such.

We just played better golf, just like they have so many times in the past. Currently Europe have won three more comps than them since 1979. Not exactly a runaway victory.

I heard somewhere and not just at this Ryder Cup, you go into the European breakfast room and everyone mixes round big tables for breakfast together, step into the American breakfast room and the tables are individually set.
Seems like the Europeans like and embrace the novelty of being in a team environment, whereas the Americans look uncomfortable by comparison.

The answer to your question is quite simple........

Because we don't give them a two point start ... oops .. maybe that should be three!

yes you are correct if you ignore 1971, 1973, 1975, 1977
