Evening all,
Have a bit of a puzzler...
As most on here know iv dropped the driver from my bag for the past 8 rounds or so and im getting on reasonably ok without it but yesterday i decided to give my Ping G10 another chance......
I didnt use it on all the holes but on our 1st par 5 hit a blinder dead straight right down onto the short stuff. Its back i thought.....
It didnt last long the next par 5 i hooked it onto the adjacent fairway and after that on our 12th i sliced it so bad it went OOB on the left side of our 7th fairway.....

What im wondering is how can someone hit there 3 and 5 wood consistently straight with the odd little fade but not be able to consistently hit the driver straight?

Have you tried another Driver??? You may not be compatible with your current driver.

Also, your current driver may be broken in some way???

Try another driver is my advice.

That's normal if you ask me! :)

Tell me about it Imurg Iv got a younger brother that swings the same as john Daly...Way beyond parallel and absolutely bombs any driver he hits ( his iron game needs a bit of polishing) but i just cant get my head around it...Im wondering would a change of loft maybe to 12 or 13 degrees sort it......

Marginal i.m.o. I have 3 drivers 10/12/HT and can hit any of them superbly/terribly on any given day.

I use the HT driver (benny) when I'm not feeling confident and I find it a doddle to hit, but directionally there's little in it. I hit it beautifully last game out, decided to play safe with a 3 wood on a short hole and sliced it O.O.B. Re-loaded, hit 4 iron, 8 iron to make a 6....and save my score (just about). I used it around Royal Ascot and pretty much sliced the lot......that's the way the biscuit breaks.

Had a session on the range last thursday trying to sort the driver out. Tried different things - some worked, some didn't. Eventually got some sort of repetition going. Just got to take it to the course now.

No doubt about to jinx it but I am hitting my driver like a dream at the minute, I'm not long, never will be, it's going the best part of 200 yards usually.

I cannot hit my 5,6 or 7 iron to save my life at the minute. 8i up not too bad.

Whilst waiting for a green to clear, I watched a player on another fairway play a long wood shot. His swing was nice and slow with a downswing that had a pronounced acceleration into the ball...just from around waist level and his ball went long and true.

Now I realised I did not do that, in my opinion,(who knows really what we do unless it is on film!) so I tried it out on the next tee and it worked, again and again.
First one or two had a wee fade but I went down the shaft an inch or so to inject more clubhead 'power' through the ball and ...hey presto..straight!

Driving still working a dream but the rest of the game is still waiting for the sun in my back, the winter rust to go away or some growth to come onto the course, oh well, that's three good excuses with no blame attached to me!!
