Donald as we know won the money list on both sides of the pond last year(huge feat), has got the world number one position back but still seems to have little recognition for he`s efforts compered to the likes on Mcilroy with the media. The reason being is the word MAJOR,Donald needs to bag one to get the credit he richly deserves, massive pressure no wonder Westwoods still in the hunt for one, could you imagine winning tournaments worldwide, ryder cups, money lists winning millions in prize money and you still aint there, pressure to succeed in them must be immense because Still in the world of tour golf your treated with little regard no matter what you achieve until you can add one of the big four to your cv, Colin who? ;) .

Don't think it's to anything to do with majors.

What exactly are you expecting people to be doing with Luke? What he does is generally not spectacular and so doesn't get the same coverage.

I think it's because he doesn't over power courses in the same way tiger or rory does he goes about his business very quietly and proffesionally I personally think he is awesome

because he gets on with his job, doesn't blow up or has tantrums and never seems to get annoyed and outside of the game is not trying to hog the limelight all in all a proper gent and roll model

It is partly the major, but also because Luke has that modest fairways and greens type of game, and Rory's more swashbuckling style is more exciting for the TV, because he is going to have eagles and double bogeys. Rory also hits it a long way, which always impresses the average viewer.

I was going to add that Rory also has a rather photogenic other half, but then, to be fair, Mrs Donald isn't too shabby either.

Me too the way he carries himself on and off the course is a credit to golf, lets hope the guys a multiple major winner in he`s career.

I am guessing that Luke, at present, is more than happy with where he is at... And most probably a lot less vexed than others with his perceived lack of recognition...

Right now he can make his way around under the radar without the impositions a higher profile would bring...

To be fair, if Tiger was a member of the European Tour he would have "made history" 7 times by now.

Luke does get a lot of good press doesn't he?

Rory does seem to be seen as the new superstar of golf ever since the Open when he was an amateur

I think once he bags a major, he'll get the credit he deserves!!

Great player who doesn't over power golf courses, like Rory Tiger or some of these other big hitters!!! Perhaps that should make him more 'real' to us normal golfers!!

i don't think its entirely to do with majors but chances are when he wins one we'll see a difference...

but i don't think thats so much to do with pressure, there is only 4 chabces each year to win a major and all the other feats are down to consistency, winning a major is nothing to with consistency, except for those 4 days.how many flash in the pan winners has there been of majors, quite a few.you don't see or hear of them again, they probably will never win as much or do as much as the likes of westwood and donald but its the way it is.

you can't say luke donald struggles with pressure, look what he did at the weekend there and what he did to win the us money list, that was amazing.

its a mix of what has been said. hes a slow and steady player unlike rory who goes for it and sometimes gets in trouble plus he hasnt got the major just yet. plenty of time for that.

Luke ain't gonna blow a 4 shot lead in the Masters, follow it up with an 8 shot win in the US open or go 63/80 in The Open at St Andrews. Rory doesn't have much charisma imo but he does have an exciting game.
Luke is in the Steve Stricker mould, bloody good but a bit machine like and predictable, that's just the way it is, I'm sure Luke is pretty happy with his lot in life regardless. Luke has a better chance of a major than Lee imo.

I remember watching Luke winning the World Matchplay the year before last. In contention at one time were Bubba Watson and Dustin Johnson who were both blasting the ball left and right. And there was Luke Donald cleverly plotting his way round with the precision of a sniper!
I know what I would rather watch any day.

I don't think it will make much of a difference when he wins a Major - he still will not get the recognition he deserves from some quarters.

I really enjoy watching his silky smooth swing and his all round game. He may not be the longest hitter but has proved time and again that he can easily cope with any golf course out there.

Luke Donald for Augusta!! :whoo:

I think you'll find he gets plenty of recognition from fellow pros, coaches and the sensible media (GM, Golf World, and other quality golf journals) and that the major isn't the be all and end all. He is number one in the world and top of the money lists on both sides because he is the best player in terms of consistency to get ranking points and accumulate the spondoolics. Will the major really give the credence to his game. Do you look at Ben Curtis and go "WOW he won a major" or is it a case of "He's doing ok this week"

Another Donald fan here.

I find him really inspiring to watch as he isn't a big hitter but plots his way around the course so well. His smooth swing really helps me to relax with my own swing and it certainly helps. I really do feel Luke being No.1 is good for the game for us mere mortals.

No one will get real credit untill they get 5 majors. Tiger's peak is so recent everyone is judged by the standards he set. Untill someone comes along and starts bossing majors on a regular basis they'll always be underrated.

Luke is also much older, so naturally people are more impressed with Rory due to his age...
