Any of the Scottish lads know why Scotland have ditched Cotter in favour of Townsend. Thought he was doing a good job showing improvements each year.

Always on the cards I believe. His contract is up next summer and I believe there may be politics in play at SRU HQ. Many Scotland's fans are still to be convinced on VC, personally I thought he did well with what he has available and a little bit of luck in a few test matches may have seen us looked on in a different light.

Mixed emotions from me as Glasgow lose an outstanding young coach who has brought some fantastic young talent through the Glasgow ranks BUT with a Scotland hat on I'm delighted he's the new coach.

I jus hope Glasgow and ultimately the SRU make a good appointment at Glasgow to hopefully reach the next level which would be knock out success in Europe all be it Townsend has 1 last crack at it in a very difficult group.

Read a variety of reports on this today and it is still a mystery to me. With almost a year of this current contract to go a replacement has been named for the current incumbent. If VC was desperate to move on, then why not say so in some form, but, the haste at which this has been made public mystifies me.

VC has brought the current crop of players to a higher level. He has them playing better, less of the mistakes with the basics, and they have really gelled as a unit. So why the need to announce it all now?

Townsend has done wonders at Glasgow, but another few years coaching at that level in with the big european teams may well have been a better thing for Scotland in the long run. GT was always going to be the head coach, at some stage. He was being groomed for it for quite a while.

Well, time will tell.

Hope he keeps the improvements going. The six nations is at its finest when anyone can beat anyone except England ;).

We should have beaten you this year in the opening game. It was there for the taking. It was a pretty ugly game to be fair and a springboard for what England went on to do.
