Speaking of golf course employment (which it doesn't look like many are), there are a few college students at the course where I work, and they intend to go into golf course management/operations.

Other than the obvious reason of being able to keep being a kid playing a game, I wonder why a person would want to go into a field where the pay is 8 bucks an hour. Even assistant pros get paid that around here.

Because sometimes life isnt all about how much you earn, its about job satisfaction more than bucks.

I was an assistant pro in the 80's and loved it. It wasn't about the money but being around the club all day, playing and practicing, helping members and working the shop

Thats great, I bet you lived at home back then. Yes its great to love your job but you have to make a living out of it too.

My close friend was green keeper at Moortown for 22 years and some of that as Head. He loved it, but there isnt much money in it unless you excell and become course management on a high priced track. As I mentioned before, I think I would prefer a job with great satisfaction and low money than vice versa.
