Why does my laptop think I'm still in Germany?

I did 4 weeks work in an office in Germany but have been home for the last two weeks. It seems as though my laptop still thinks I'm in Germany with adverts on Facebook in German and the BBC site saying that I can't watch clips of the athletics as it's "not available in your area".

Any suggestions?

[h=2]How to delete cookies, history and cache in browser[/h]

In most browsers, press Ctrl+Shift+Del or Ctrl+Shift+Fn+Del or Command+Shift+Del (Mac) to show the cookies/history/cache deletion popup. If that doesn't work, try the steps specific for a particular browser below. Consider also deleting the search history in the search engine(s) you use.
Desktop Browsers

  • Internet Explorer-Tools (gear icon in upper-right corner, or Tools menu) > Internet Options > Delete (may be called Clear Browser History)

Cheers. That seems to have worked for the BBC sport website but I'm still getting German adverts on Facebook.

That's down to facebook/google and it's data mining and not your lappy. When the robots work out you're no longer surfing from Germany they will target you with new ads.

Ditch Facebook then!

Or try using the Location Services function - in the Privacy settings

There also appears to be a number of other settings that might be approprite - e.g. Profile/Home Town; Settings/Network - that you might try.
