Most golfers agree that Mizuno make fantastic irons & wedges. Their bags, and other gear are not bad either, certainly up their with the rest. Why then with all of their expertise and R&D can they not make a top quality driver? Lots of pro's carry the irons and wedges, Luke Donald staunch Mizuno man was using a Taylormade R9 recently and Chris Wood has just signed to play the irons but again no driver. Cannot understand it.

I dont think they need to make a good driver because their irons are that good although to get up there with the Big Guns IE Titleist/Ping they would need to produce a driver. But i say stick to what your good at and Mizuno make irons.

They've started making decent drivers for the amateur golfer but they don't seem to be good enough for the Pro. I guess when you've got the R9, 909, i15, Rapture, FT-9, etc etc to choose from the Mizzy drivers come a long way down the list.

I can only make one comment at this juncture....

EXSAR.......

I tried the 560 (? was that one) and another (600) not to mention a 700 3 wood (before buying a Nike!)....

Couldn't get on with any of them. Maybe with a V2 or ProLaunch red (or even platinum) maybe it would have been an instant sale.

I DO accept you can buy them with custom shafts, but hey, they're not going to sell many when the one you get to try first has a shaft totally different to anything else. it could be good, but I sense it's just Mizunos way of taking a 3rd party product out of the equation.

:D

As has been said before, it's down to personal preference.

I used an old Orlimar HPti to good effect a while back. It was replaced with a TM R7 425 which wasn't my cup of tea. currently using a MP600 which I had fitted and when I'm playing well,it is a good driver.

It's alllabout what you're comfortable with.

As for the pros, there going to play what's best for them and what's going toearn them some dosh either as winnings or as sponsorship.

Even the club pros are well looked after by TM nowadays, which is probably why their clubs are so expensive for us mere mortals ;)
