Looking for some modern/contemporary wall lights and ceiling lights and you wonder why they are so expensive. Simple wall lights with a bit of glass and some label cost north of a hundred quid!!! I wonder how much do real crystal chandeliers cost then? It feels like buying lego - small bits of plastic that cost the earth <rant over>

Hi, I work for lighting manufacturer but more industrial and commercial stuff however do use the below website from time to time if its any help. Just so you know I don't have any ties to them just trying to help a fellow golfer out.

Where on earth are you looking dude? 100 quid light fittings? harrods home dept?? I have used this site before: http://www.valuelights.co.uk/ pretty decent.

Tnx guys... Rooter.. i thumbed thru the usual Habitat, B&Q, John Lewis etc.... but i realise that valuelights is a probably my level. ;)

Just remember, you'll get what you pay for quality wise. If it's something you want to last, the break open the piggy bank ;)

Its a light fitting! As long as you wire it up correctly should be fine! I have used 10quid 3 x spot fitting before and they are fine and dandy! The only thing to look for is using halogen bulbs and cheaper thin metal, you may get discolouration of the metal. use LED bulbs instead!

Chinese watch yourself, wont have passed the same standards, also I got stung for import tax with them on clothing

Funny you should say that... I thought of dropping a note to them to check it, and realised that they dont have any email id!!! So googled around and looks like that they have tons of negative feedback - none of which are on their website.

Some of the same products are available via Amazon, so will be going thru them..

just wondering is there an easy way to create a retro metal plate?

I looking at something like the baseplate of this light..

I am fine even if it is just a thin plate of steel (but needs to look Retro/Industrial/Vintage
