once the dust settles whos next in like to be European Team Captain?

I'd like it to be Monty at least that keeps him off the TV pundits chair while its on.

Previous captains not eligible for European captain anymore are they?

The previous 3 captains are all part of the selection process picking the next

It should be either Lawrie or Bjorn - both have served their time as VC and both should be given the chance.

There was an interview back around 2012 Medinah time when he was VC for Ollie or might have been 2014 and in it Jiminez was saying that he doesn't ever see himself as Captain material ? VC every time but not as a captain.

who's going to be the captain? "captain jack sparrow" could do a better job. so anyone who hasnt got washed out friends will do

is it that crazy to have no captain? allow the players in the automatic qualifying spots to decide between them who the captains picks are. after all, they know who's on form. also allow them to choose who they want to play with and when they want to go out. I'm sure a bunch of men can decide that between them.

has there ever been a player/captain?

Yes it is that crazy.
Personally I really don't think it would work.

The captain takes pretty much two years of his life out to get organised and ready for the RC - there is an unbelievable amount of work that goes on behind the scenes from preparation and media work to getting the course exactly right to ensure its best for the home players - it's a full time job for one person. The players are too busy playing golf around the world. The RC captain is one of the biggest jobs in sport .

Sounds a bit like the Old Farts v Whippersnappers meet.

Reckon it is a full time role for 18 months but 2 years out of his life is a bit over the top. At the end of the day it is a 18 month contract and then you're done

it looks like it can take its toll on your Waste line too , if Darren is anything to go by

I think Bjorn would be a good choice as he's done his time as a VC. However what about Van de Velde. I wonder if a Frenchman in France would have the same effect as Seve in Spain. It'll certainly be a home favourite and he's done VC before I think

To call it one of the biggest jobs in sport is to, yet again, inflate the importance of golf. The Ryder Cup is big but not that big.
