So catching up on sky sports news, simon dyson was DQ'd from the BMW masters after tv viewers alerted the tour he touched the line of a putt. It was reviewed and he was DQ'd for signing for an incorrect score (had not added the 2 shot penalty) now I am not denying it's against the rules, but who sits at home, watching the golf, contacts the tour to alert them? Is this just joe blogs at home? Do they have rule infringement spotters watching?

Just seemed a bit odd to me... Do people need to get out more?

You could argue that they were protecting the integrity of the game.

Would I do it...no. But there are definitely some on here that would!!:o

The same kind of people that complain about things on tv because lt upsets them/insults them, instead of just changing the channel. Sad people:temper:

I saw it yesterday (but didn't call in) - thought it was a blatant tapping down of spike mark on his line, after his marked his ball.....

Ok so where was the match referee or his playing partner to report it or call it? Why is it down to some armchair wannabee pedant?

Not sure I would know how to call anyway :)

Surley Scott the referee/other player could have been looking elsewhere, or preparing for their own shot. I hope your not saying that only them are allowed to call rules violations?

It has to be said to be the dumbest thing I've seen a pro do for a long time, and I haven't seen an explaination from him yet to the reason for it .... maybe just a brain fade moment but its gonna him big time, not just in prize money here but for points in the order of merit.

Of course Brian, if people there see it, it should be called! Was more amazement that people made an effort to find the number or email for the tour, got off their ass and contacted them! I bet they were the ones that told the teachers at school.. No one likes a grass!!! 😉

It would appear, that 'No one likes a cheat' either ;)

But unless the rules guys were aware of the incident before he signed his card then it doesn't match up to the reason why tiger wasn't DQ'd

Didnt Harrington go through a similar thing a couple of years ago when he had supposedly tee'd off in front of the blocks? I think he was ok though.

Bad rule, person who caused the damage, whether that be divot, scrape or spike mark and doesn't repair it should be DQ'd ... No debate, get rid of them, SCUM ....

Interesting point. You do see a lot of pro's on tv tapping them down after they have holed out, much more than amateurs. That made me think about a game I played the other week where an FC seemed to be causing a lot of quite bad spike marks, enough to cause comment. He apologised, explaining he had brand new spikes in his shoes. Maybe there are more spike marks on tour as the pro's always use new stuff?

when I was back home for game last winter I wore my dads old metal spiked shoes. couldn't believe the mess of the greens they made.

golf before plastic spikes must have been a nightmare.
