So, my broadband deal runs out with BT next week. Since I started it they have installed Infinity to my village but to get it I have, it would seem, to pay top wack as an existing customer and I'm not going to be fleeced by them.

Anyone any suggestions as my 1st choice to switch to was Talk Talk but now .......?

My mother in law had talk talk & it was shockingly bad.
I have Sky,get it as part of my TV package.
I've not had any problems with it & would definitely recommend.

TalkTalk have a bad rep, but they've improved ridiculous amounts from 5 or 6 years ago. The broadband offering is as good as anyone in the country right now. They're constantly upgrading the network, are taking big steps to improve customer service and as always with TT the packages are great value for money. I've recently taken up the Plus TV package and they've been great. The website was really good, was set-up and delivered quickly and easily, installation was incredibly easy (the powerline adapters for the Youview box are a great idea and no need for an engineer) and it's worked perfectly at good speed since Day 1. I've been very impressed.

Threaten to leave BT, they always seem to come up with a deal when this happens.

Had Sky and Virgin in the past, had Infinity for 2-3 years now and had no issues at all, I wouldn't consider anyone else, might be worth talking to them first as they can do deals as well.

How can Talk Talk upgrade the network when they don't work in the network?

Well worth trying and also check out plusnet who are part of the BT group and are often much cheaper than BT.
I have been with PlusNet for three years, begrudgingly because I have found their customer services to be truly awful. By way of illustration, this is the fourth month in a row when they have overbilled me despite assuring me on each occasion that it was remedied and once again their advice is that it may be fixed but I will need to call up after my billing date to get a refund. Infuriating.

Ok, so I've just done a deal to switch everything to Sky, who I have had TV with for about 30 years.

If I'd stayed with Sky tv and BT internet then, to have infinity speeds, I would have been paying a total of £118.50, but, after haggling a deal with Sky, I will now get unlimited 35 to 40 Mbps infinity + the full tv package + unlimited evening and weekend calls for £83 per month for 10 months of a 12 month deal and a small rise for the last 2 months.

Seems good to me!

used to have everything with sky, slowly there prices went up and i felt we were not getting a good deal.went to bt line kept dropping out so after the agreement ran out we switched to 'SSE' for a hell of a lot cheaper.so far so good.

If you are in a cabled area, then that is going to be the best solution for you. For fibre, I am not sure there is a great deal of difference, but Zen Internet has one of the best reputations for reliability and speed.

I switched to Sky Fibre from Sky Broadband and it is mostly fine. A few drop outs but otherwise pretty stable speed. Sky provides a router (a rather cheap looking one), which you must use as the encryption is loaded into it. I would prefer to use my own router, but i can't without some hacking around.

In my experience Virgin Broadband was terrible. They are well known for their aggressive traffic management, i.e. cutting down bandwidth at busy times.
