I arrived that first tee yesterday at 7:20, still dark but about 10 mins away from being light enough to play. I was suprised to see 3 ball already halfway down the fairway clearly struggling to find their balls. I can understand want to be off first but teeing of before you can see? Seems pretty stupid!

Was still pretty dark here at 8 - there would have been a 3 ball going off about then. Good luck to 'em...

Marshall's don't allow people out until it's light enough but at my old place a number used to tee off before it was light - they didn't hit it far and mainly along the ground

Hawkeye and I lost at the 22nd on Saturday in the Winter knockout. It was 3.45pm and we'd have no chance of playing any further. There is a group goes out on a Saturday almost before its light. Can't see the logic myself

Creatures of habit - they prob go out the same time week in week out

There's an old guy who is a member at my club and he's a little eccentric, one day someone caught him out hitting balls with his eyes shut. When they asked him why he was doing that he replied "So if I ever get caught out in the dark I'll be able to carry on".

We're not allowed to tee off in the dark at our place. Mainly due to the ground staff checking the course over.

It's the same in heavy fog/mist. That's more for health and safety though.

Worlds gone mad :smirk:

sound reason to me

Sounds like a good drill to stop you getting your head up before you've hit the ball too! :)

No one should play golf in the dark it's a health an safety risk the course gets closed for fog so should be the same for dark

Have played in fog a few times.

Probably the strangest was at Blackpool North shore when it came down between leaving the first green and arriving on the second tee.

Trying to hit a ball round a course I'd never played in a pea souper was interesting to say the least.

Birchwood Park used to do night golf a few years back. Luminous balls, a light on the flag, and a few lamps along the fairway. I think they only did it on the nine holer.

We had a session off night golf a few weeks back on our short course - all the luminous Gubbins.
Couldn't play as I was working but it didn't really appeal anyway.
