I was discussing this today, I went for Rush but I think there were some fantastic bands in the 60's 70's 80's Deep purple, Thin Lizzy, Rainbow, Led Zepp, Genesis, Supertramp, Yes,Pink Floyd and on and on. Who is your fave classic rock band

In the 70's Foreigner, Rainbow, Scorpions, Blue Oyster Cult. Sorry can't choose one, but the best live band I ever saw were Rainbow.

i saw Rainbow at Finsbury Park on te Straight between the Eyes tour, so they were getting a bit americanised then, but still a fantastic show. They went on well past the underground closing.

Thin Lizzy were outstanding live and one of my favourite bands - i'm not certain they are "classic" rock though?

If you caught Phil Mogg and Pete Way in a semi-sober state you'd have been hard pressed to find a better Classic Rock band than UFO, especially live.
But what defines a "Classic" rock band..?
BOC were superb as were Lizzy, Leppard, Rush, Aerosmith, Zeppelin, etc etc etc

Saw UFO at Guildford University, and they were excellent.

Floyd, Genesis, QUEEN, Zepplin, Todd Rundgren, Hawkwind, Rush, Boston.

Man, great thread, gonna dig these MOFO's out the loft and bust some speakers

My favourite band from that era is rainbow but the best show's were AC/DC and Scorpions plus hazy memories of various monsters of rock events at donnington.... God i feel old now :)

Got some Boston on my iPod at the moment, great band. Also liked Rainbow, Kiss, Meatloaf, Queen, genesis, Simple Minds and many more. Couldn't pick the best one though.....

Now I have had some sleep I can remember (just) seeing a band in the 80's called Dumpy's Rusty Nuts and having a great time, just had a look on the net looks like they are still going, not sure its classic rock though

? what is classic rock ? who knows, Santanna made my ears bleed, Wishbone Ash were so loud my brain fell out, The Who with Keith Moon made my jaw drop (they were that good), I dont know if they are 'Classic Rock' but I dont care I enjoyed them.

YOu want loud and bleeding ears - try being 3 ft from the main PA stack at a Motorhead gig.
Christ I can still feel the ringing 30 years after......

Actually the loudest I ever experienced was Micheal Schenker Group at the Hammersmith Odeon in the early 80's. That and Saxon the same year - OMG they were off the scale.
