Hi all,

I want to get myself a Skycaddie but cant decide on what model to get, either the SG2.5 or SG5?

If you have either especially the SG2.5 can you tell me if you think its all you need or you wish you paid the extra for the SG5?

Looking at the Skycaddie website, I cant tell much difference between the 2 except the SG5 has a colour screen, but does this justify the extra dish?

Also, anyone know who's doing good deals on them?

Thanks.

Andy

I've got the SC5 mainly because of the exceptional price my pro was doing it for. The only main differences is that the SC5 has a larger screen and a colour screen which means it is easy to see. I think the black and white version can be hard to read in sunlight etc but it comes down to your preference and budget.

I would say have a look at Sonocaddie if you can as it gives the SC a pretty good run. If I had known about it when I was in the market I may well have reconsidered. That said I'm perfectly happy with everything the SC5 does and it has defintely helped my game

Buy the 2.5. The SC5 is not worth the extra money in my opinion- plus I prefer the size of the 2.5 which is sleek and like the average mobile phone sort of size. I think the SC5 is to big, but that is just my opinion. They do do identical jobs though and I have had no problem reading my 2.5 screen so I would save your pennies and opt for the cheaper version.

I got the 2.5. When I got mine the 5 was about £120 more.

I think if it was maybe £50-£60 more I might have gone for the 5.

As most people have said all you really get is a colour screen.

Never had a problem with mine.

Either way you'll get a nice bit if kit.

When faced with exactly the same dilemma I ended up going for the 2.5 and don't regret it.

They both do the same job and while the 5 does look nicer, you're only glancing at it for a couple of seconds to read the numbers each time.

Wouldn't fault anyone for plumping for the SG5 though, I just couldn't justify the extra £80.

Hi Andy
like homer says take a look at the sonocaddie V300 I just got one they are cheaper than the SG5 around £245.The reason I went for the sonocaddie is that it does extra things like tracking your round on the course,it also keeps your score and keeps a record of all your stats GIR,Putts, etc if your course as not been map your can do it your self, will taking to goswick with me, hope this might help

Got the 5 myself, was £70 more than the 2.5 but having had the chance to use both before buying, I found the 5 a lot better in bright light, so thats why I went for it.

I have the 2.5 and even if the 5 was same price I wouldn't have it. Yes it has a bigger/colour screen it is a bigger unit. Colour makes no odds as the screen is so easy to see even in bright conditions. For £100 more I would be a little annoyed at carrying a bigger unit for no advantage.

If you want a very simple/ effective device to give you front middle and back distances with the intelligreen and an ability to measure your shots 2.5 is the one you need
