Congrats guys. I was a lucky winner of a Yonex fitting last year and got to say their graphite shafts are amazing!!

Just back from Silvermere and the Yonex fitting experience. What a great time!
Jake and Darren from Yonex were there and is was great to meet Drewster and Norrin. I thought that I had a bad journey taking an hour an a half to travel 30 miles, but Drewster had a four and a half hour drive down from Lincolnshire. Hope you made it back for the game.
I hadn't realised how much great technology goes into the Yonex clubs and that they manufacture all of the components in-house in Japan. It was also an eye opener to understand the difference in graphite content with Yonex shafts compared to others and how this provides much greater stability in both flex and twist (others make up their shafts with much more resin and glue). It was also the first time that I'd heard of counter-balanced grips for irons, but the results speak for themselves.
Darren was super and quick to create a relaxed atmosphere (mainly by ignoring and deleting the first two choked up attempts to hit balls in front of him and the technology that was being used!). I was put into the XPG with the standard graphite shaft and the results were amazing. Straighter, longer and more consistent shots, tighter dispersion and a lot less difference between the good and not so good shots.
Turned out that the strike plate showed that I need standard lie. Grip check also showed that a standard grip is a little on the skinny side for me and that I need more tape (who knew?).
I will no longer be carrying a 4 iron, carrying one of the Yonex graphite crown hybrids instead. I little tip on ball placement had me hitting the 4-hybrid a treat. I know that there was another Forum stream on hybrids and I would say go out and try the Yonex for sure.
The final part of the fitting was at the short end where the 49 degree approach wedge was added to the make up. 89 yards of very consistent shot was the result of this.
Couldn't recommend the Yonex clubs more highly and Darren did a superb job of the fitting. If you are in the market for new clubs and hadn't considered Yonex - add them to the list straight away. If you are anywhere near Silvermere - get in touch with Darren for a fitting experience that you will really enjoy and will surprise you.
