What do you reckon guys?

I was in a fairly heated chat regarding monty for faldo's team. I think he should be in because of his Ryder Cup record and he is a wise head to go in what could be a young team. I know he has havings putting woes but still feel he merits a place.

Leave Monty out, he is no team player, he's a primadonna who thinks he's better than everyone else.
Give a new young guy the experience, i.e. McIlroy, as we're due to lose one soon so the experience will be good when we have to win it back again.

Forget the current rankings. Here's the team I'd like to see;-

Montgomerie
Rose
Westwood
Stenson
Karlsson
Fasth
Garcia
Harrington
Donald
Casey
Poulter
Dougherty

Would love McIlroy to appear but it's too early for him.

And Monty is a must pick for exactly the reason birdieman mentioned...he thinks he's better than everyone else...or at least any American he'll face!

100% agree with you John. I cant wait!!!

McIlroy should go along as a reserve and get a feeling of the competition and playing as a team at the highest level.

I think McIlroy will have to show some good consistency this next season to impress Faldo and show him that he is mature enough to be selected.
Noticed on his big comp last season that he had a tendancy to rush his game, especially on the green.

In short, if he plays out of his skin next year, why not consider him for the team?

if he plays out of his skin next year he will be in automatically with his position on the order of merit.

McIlroy has done nothing in the pro ranks yet. One good tournament does not make you a superstar. Once he has won a couple of times shown some consistancy over a few months then start bumming the lad up. Untill then let him settle into his role as European Tour Professional.

Two names who have not been mentioned yet are Marc Warren and my outsider is Alastair Forsyth, both are solid but need more consuistancy. I believe one of these two might sneek in.

There are also the French to consider, Jacqualin, Havret,& Remesy, all super players on their day.

Well gents, I'm afraid I will stir things up here, but, I do think that the US will be stronger in depth than Europe and will win by a narrow margin at the next yder Cup. We've had a good run recently and I think there is a slight complacency begining to set in.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be glued to the TV when it's on and wil be hoping that Europe can continue their winning run,but my head says it will be much harder this time.

I agree with JF's team, but think Poulter / Doherty have their work cut out to stop the likes of Soren Hansen and Marc Warren from taking their place.

Monty has to be there, his record speaks for himself but i think he will have to finish in the top 15 on the tour to get a spot - Otherwise Faldo will leave him out.

The fact that the guy secured his card in 3 tournaments I think is pretty special. Would not be surprised at all if McIlroy makes the team as of right.

Believe Monty has to be picked. He's a great team player as was recently shown in the so called "World Cup" and as was proved in Valderama, he doesn't have to get on well with the captain to play well.

I am pretty keen on your team JF. My only question would be Garcia as although I rate him highly, I would happily see him dropped in favour of Darren Clark, I think he should be in the team without any doubt.

I think garcia would be a weak link, particularly if he is unable to banish the demons of carnoustie, we all know what happened.

All it does is highlight how much money is available for one good week. The guy has an obvious talant just saying dont put to much expectation on him too soon.

A certain Mr Rose (in my opinion) was a better talent and look how badly he struggled at the start.

Let the lad find his feet first guys thats all I'm saying.

No way is Darren Clark ready for it, he has still not shown any consistency in his game, you got to have Garcia in the team.

Monty certainly did not carry Warren, it could probably be argued the other way. Warren was awesome that week, played very well. Monty played well in spells but Warren was the consistant one!

I'd go strictly on the rankings and start from there. I suspect it will all be fairly pointless as I can't see Nick getting the team together in the way it needs to be. Don't get me wrong, I think we have the players but I reckon it'll be a tough call. Just a bad vibe.....
