I can't play shots in them - seems to affect perception of distance to the ball on the ground.

But in summer I wear them between shots.

I've found that blue lenses seem to make it easier to see playing partners balls in the air.

I'm with Gill, I tend to wear them when walking, as I get hay fever they tend to help with that as well as the sun by keeping polled out of my eyes.

I never putt with them, I just can;t get any defenition with shades, everything looks nearly flat.

I use prescription glasses with photochromic lenses in (i.e.they go dark in sunlight).

I use sunglasses with contacts when it's very bright and always carry both just in case.

Suggest looking for sunglasses with polarising lenses as this should cut down glare overall by only allowing light to penetrate in a linear way rather than a diffused, scattergun way. This should also cut down reflected light, catchlights and other spectral reflection.

I would be suspicious of anything with a colour tint ( such as yellow) to it as this can have a detrimental effect on contrast by rebalancing and compressing bands of the colour spectrum and depriving you of some contrast.

Contrast is what gives clarity to your eyesight and is why dusk or bright midday sun is bad news for golfers and why white is overall probably the best colour for a golf ball when set against mid/dark green grass on a course.

Despite this I seem to have an ability to find a piece of polystyrene cup at 200 paces but sadly can't find my ball unless I virtually stand on it.

My eyes are so bad when I go to Specsavers they prescribed a labarador and white stick instead. I have to play in glasses which is a pain most of the year (too much glare in summer and covered in rain in the winter)

I tried loads, even the Oakleys and didnt find any that worked for many of the reasons given before.

Then 2 years ago on the plane to Portugal realised I hadnt brought any,God bless HID she offered to buy me some from the gift catalogue as a bday pressie.

They had some Silhouette glasses which were described as being for Golfers so got them.

They are brilliant, light (titanium),good at keeping glare down and I dont lose the flight either.

They were not cheap 90/100 euros I think but not Oakley money.

Pretty sure they are available here.

Used to wear a pair of dark clip-ons that went over my Diedre Barlows. For some reason tho I could NOT hit an 8-iron o lower with them, made the ball look miles away so I'd end up scooping and fatting the ball. Slung them into the woods the last time it happened and never saw them again.

........I had to get a pair after having my peepers lasered last year.

I had mine done a few years back, best decision I ever made!

Do you say you had to get them because you're more affected by the bright light now, or just that you've gone from prescription to none prescription sunnies?

I can not play a decent shot with sunglasses on and was bemused by what had happened the first time I wore them, but someone told me it can alter your perspective of where the ball is and advised that I flip them onto my head when I play my shots. And this is what I do.

Strangely I play in glasses most weeks but cannot play in my contacts and sunglasses. May because most sunglasses have thicker frames and bits that I can see in my peripheral vision that puts me off.

Like others I wear them between shots as I wear contacts and it stops my eyes drying out.

In the winter, I do wear those with yellow lenses all the time, including for shots.

Would love to have laser surgery though, must be great to wake up in the morning and be able to see, then again I would only have a clearerview of HID so perhaps not. ;)

I wear them occasionally if it is really sunny. If I wear them on the way to the course and them from car to tee it's not a problem to wear them all the way round. I wouldn't just put them on when on the first tee.

I don't wear prescription glasses but have quite a sensitivity to sunlight so wear sunglasses a lot . If i havn't got my sunglasses with me when driving ( car ) and the sun comes out , i can get a real bad headache.

When golfing , i do as a lot seem to do here ., wear them between shots . Its also why i tend to wear a cap as well , as it keeps that glare out of my eyes .

nomadpaul, I even struggle with a baseball cap - they seem to affect the light and as such screw with my perception, thus affecting my game!

Whoever said golf was all in the mind was dead right!
