I currently have an Odyssey 2 ball putter in my bag. It's been used for quite a few seasons now, sometimes behaving, sometimes coming close to being lobbed into ponds!

Thinking the time is right to move on now and retire the old flat stick. I'm still considering a mallet style as they suit my straight back, straight through stroke. Quite fancying a sabre tooth/fang type, if nowt else they're pretty good for picking balls up off the green!

Any recommendations?

I have this http://www.clubhousegolf.co.uk/acat...all-Fang-SuperStroke-Golf-Putter.html#SID=670

Works as well as my stroke allows it and I like it. I've hankered after going back to a blade but I perform better with either half/full mallet so flick between this and my milled odyssey #9

If you can have a look at the Cleveland range

Odyssey 7 (fang) as used by Stenson & Donald is a great putter. I have the white hot pro version.

If buying second hand avoid metal-x version.

I recently purchased the 2 ball fang putter. Love it so far and gets a really nice roll. I would deffo try a few out as the new versa inserts are a mix between the metal x insert and the old white hot inserts. I used to play with the white hot mallet and found the insert very soft, the metal x is very firm, now the new versa is pretty perfect, nice amount of feel but still firm off the face.

This. Any version (apart from the metal-x which I also hated) of the Odyssey #7. There's a reason why so many good putters use one.

I also prefer the older XG one because the head is a bit smaller, but that's just my preference.

The new White Hot RX #7 is the slightly smaller head size. The V-Line fang also takes my fancy!

Scotty Cameron Futura X5 or X7. Absolutely love this putter. I switched from an Odyssey blade to this earlier in the year and my putting has improved no end. Gone from averaging >2 putts per hole almost every round to my last 3 rounds being 1.89, 1.72 and 1.71.

A vote for the odyssey marksman fang from me. Basically the same as the 2-ball fang but with an aiming-stripe instead of the 2 balls. I find it much easier to aim with it's straight edges instead of the round balls.
