Which would you prefer?

On the courses the pros play, with the quality of their bunkers and the depth of their rough I would much prefer the bunker.

On my home course I would be as comfortable with either option as long as I'm not up against the face of the bunker.

Thinking more of the rough we encounter at standard courses, although I appreciate that this can vary greatly from one course to the next. As for the Tour players making it look easy, we can safely say they do that in pretty much every facet of the game....show offs.

I think that would be a surefire way of me never hitting a bunker again

Sure you could putt into them like I do :o

This time of year either of them are a lottery but if I got a decent lie, I'd take rough over bunker. My bunker play has improved but I am still at the point of being happy to get it out so proximity to hole is random.

The real answer to the question is that it depends what hole it is and which side I'm on. For example, right of our 7th gets a lot of wear as people go to the 8th tee, I'd take bunker there all day long. Left of the 7th I'll take rough.

Rough for me. The sand at ours is pretty compact and I just hit it out (if I can) From the rough I'm looking to get it close with the magic 7 iron unless I've got to go over a bunker. In that case I'll probably be playing a bunker shot next!! :mmm:
I have been working on the that though.

Depends where the pin is.

If not far on the green, then bunker. If across the other side of the green, then rough - though I don't thing there's normally a choice!

Used to play on a lush parkland course and 1 ft into that rough was a bad place to be. Spindly rough on most courses is normally ok - except for this time of year when mud makes it a lottery.

I'm going with rough also, I'm just way too inconsistent out of sand. Seem to thin more shots no matter how good the bunker is! Probably need a lesson in there!

I don't mind either, but there has to be some sand in the bunker at least enough to give a sporting chance of getting it out.

Im ok from the rough but I don't like long wet grass, it holds on to the club too much.
