After watching the Masters special report and the interview with Lee Westwood regarding his move to the USA I asked myself which tour would I play on if I had the choice.

For me it would have to be the PGA tour, simply for the better weather in America and the stunning courses would also help with the decision too... The beaches full of women would have nothing to do with it though  (No one tell the misses)

Which tour would you play on?

I suppose it depends on your targets.
If you want to win Majors then the PGA seems to be the place to be.
If you want the money then again it's the PGA
If you want to play target golf every week then again it's the PGA
If you want to travel to far flung Kingdoms, play badly, miss the cut, fly home and lose 3 grand on the trip then you play on the European Tour....

Agree with Imurg. If you want money, weather, sponsor pampering, same course every week etc etc then it has to be the PGA tour.

I'd like to say that there is a better variation of courses on the Euro tour but I'm not convinced that's the case. Theoretically the Euro tour should produce better players as they have to cope with more variations in weather and course conditions but I'm not sure it's true.

It's hard to knock those Europeans that choose to play in the States, I'd be tempted to do the same myself.

I would do a mix of both. Be great to see all the places on the european tour even if they are far flung plus theres only so long i could put up with "MASHED POTATTTTOOOOO" before i club some bugger

PGA definitely, with less travel being a big part of the decision. I realise the US is a pretty big place but get a home there and at least you would see it a couple of days a week. The travel involved on the European Tour must be absolutely horrific (for the first dozen events and the last few).

Would have to be the PGA. I dont know how the guys on the Euro tour have the energy to keep going with the amount of travelling they do.

Nothing to do with the weather or the money honest.

I read the Brandon Grace article from the GM mag last night - he won 4 times last year on the European tour, and one in South Africa, yet still sees the 'ultimate' success as being able to compete regularly on the PGA Tour. I think most people would chose the PGA!

It would have to be the PGA Tour for me. I like playing American style courses as they suit my game (high ball flight). There would only be one problem, I could never make a cut on any pro tour event.

For me it would be the weather that would make me want to play on the PGA tour, being a player who hits the ball very high, the lack of wind and premium on distance would suit me a lot more!

I love some of the courses played early in the season on the PGA tour (Torrey Pines, Doral, Bay Hill, Quaill Hollow, Scottsdale etc) so I'd have to choose the PGA.
Also, if you want to be the best you've got to beat the rest, and they are all on the PGA tour.

European Tour every time. Travel first class with the family and an entourage; kids nanny, kids tutor etc. It would be a fantastic experience for all.

As for the PGA Tour, I find the courses uninspirational and to put it plainly, I am not a big fan of Americans. Their insincerity and annihilation of the English language are very wearing. And there are too many clinically obese people around the place too. All that whooping and hollering - horrible. Get in the hole etc. It would wind me up like a watch spring to be honest.

I would play on the European Tour and pop over once a year to play in the Masters. I would not bother with the US PGA or US Open though. Mickey Mouse events if you ask me.

Cheers,

Snelly

Red hot weather every week.
Bigger prize money.
Playing infront of huge crowds week in week out (unlike the euro tour in the far east the other week that had more officials, players and caddies than people watching)
Probably a better collection of courses than on the Euro tour.
