There are numerous discussions on here about which type of course people prefer so here is a little poll, just for fun.

Which of these courses would be your first choice to play? Ignore whether or not you have played any of them, they are generally accepted to be the best of their type in the UK.

Would love to try Sunningdale as a one off. However, if it was which course would I want to be a member at it would have to be Birkdale.

It's not about the individual courses, the poll is about the TYPE of course.

So why not just ask what TYPE of course you would prefer to play then? You state in your OP that the courses you mention are"generally accepted to be the best of their type in the UK." As I suggested, I think there are better courses elsewhere in the UK, particularly links, so I wondered where you got your information from.

That is probably your opinion, so get off soap box. Check out the top 100 courses and Birkdale is one of them, but I will give you something, there are 4 Links courses rated higher.

But regarding the OP I love playing heathland courses, never played Sunningdale though. But if it is rated higher than the Hotchkin then that will do for me, as it is one of my favorite courses.

If it was a thread about course type i would pick parkland slightly ahead of links but the parkland course you have picked isnt in the same world as the other 3.

Woodland is just a made up type of course imo too. Its basically parkland.

For what it's worth, the top links courses in the UK are generally Birkdale, Muirfield, Turnberry and RCD, they swap positions depending on which poll you are looking at and what condition they are in at the time they are ranked.

But as stated, this poll IS NOT about the particular courses, it is about the type of course. I just picked 4 good examples of each type to highlight what is on offer. If you want to debate individual courses I suggest you start a new thread.

Why skew the voting by picking examples then? Pointless imo.
