I have got £90 to spend at Affordable Golf after selling some clubs to them.

I have currently got Adams Blue irons 5-PW, and a Cleveland 588 Rotox with 56 degree loft.

They are doing "buy 1, get 1 half price" on the Rotox 2.0 wedges. I was thinking of getting the 50 degree wedge to fill the gap between my PW and my 56 degree wedge. That seems a no-brainer.

For the 2nd wedge, I don't know whether to go for 60 degrees or 62?

The 60 comes with 6, 10 or 12 bounce, the 62 only comes with 10 bounce.

Which would you recommend?

What loft is your PW? Is the gap between PW and 56, is it large enough to fit 2 wedges in there?

Really depends what sort of style of 'wedge' player you are!

If you are more a 'digger' than a 'sweeper' then it's likely that a higher bounce wedge will work better than a low bounce one - especially if the surface is soft. Links, or other pretty 'hard' surfaces promote a sweeping action.

I'm no longer a fan of any wedge above 58 in any case - and I've used 60,62, 64 and even 73! But I'm a sweeper/slider, so accuracy is paramount for that loft!

If the 56 is high bounce (3 dots) - for sand, I'd suggest you ignore that for anything but sand and deepish+ rough.

Agreed that the 50 or thereabouts is a given to bridge a gap, but I'd suggest 58 max for the 2nd. 50 and 58 would work well imo, with bounce/grind dependent on your style - low if sweeper; high if digger - though I believe the 50 only cones in medium (10).

Wedge fitting is highly recommended!

Hope that helps.

It's 45 degrees. Hadn't thought of having 2 wedges between it and the 56.

tbh, I am a bit of a hacker. My short game is not that accurate, so am thinking I might have more use for 1 between the PW and the 56, and then one with a greater loft.

Lots of options, but like foxholer says a wedge fitting maybe useful, even visiting AG at Sunderland or Metro Centre and getting them to let you try different lofts, my PW is 43 degrees so I went 48,52,56

I'd say I was more of a digger. I certainly seem to hit the ball better when I use that technique.

The 56 is the first gen Rotex. It has 2 dots, 14 bounce.

AG might be a good option. The missus wants to have a run over to the Metro Centre this weekend, so it's a good escape for me.

Only problem is I never come out of there without having bought something!

Keep it simple then! More choice can actually create confusion!

Get the 50 to fill the gap and the 60 to sell.
Use the money you get from the sale of the 60 and spend it on a wedge lesson

Always a good idea, as is practice! But why not do both, even if the Lob (58 please!) is parked for a while!

I am in the middle of a course of lessons, so will ask the pro to look at my wedge shots next time, although at the moment I am driving him crackers with my grip and swing!

Is the 58 not too close to the 56 to get much use out of it?

As I posted, it depends on whether the 56 is ONLY for Sand (or maybe longish rough) or is appropriate for off the fairway. And that depends on your wedge style - the Sweeper versus Digger style I mentioned. As a Sweeper, I never used a high bounce 56 (SW) off the fairway except where ground was soggy. If you are a Digger, then there's not a huge use for anything more than the 56 anyway - though flop shots can be fun (or dangerous!!) - so I'd suggest you park the ego and stick with the 56 for at least this season!

Concentrate on filling the distance gap between your wedges and not the loft gap, these may be different so a club with loft halfway between your existing clubs my not hit it the right distance and you could end up with two hitting the ball the same/similar distances

Assuming your happy with the 56 then I would get the 60 (and the no brain 50 of course). Given that your SW is high bounce I would also get the LW in a lower bounce. It may not suit your game/swing at all and you may find no use for it, but I think the 58 would get even less use as you have a 56.

You may well improve enough to use a LW well and the the versatility with a high bounce 56 and low bounce 60 will give you more options around the course. Not conventional thinking, but I would do it.
