Thinking about a range finder from Santa. Currently using a gps watch, but quite fancy something else.

Any recommendations? Or things to look for / avoid

Cheers

I'm looking for my first range finder too and have been looking at the bushnell v3 and nikon coolshot 20.

Except for the jolt function I am struggling to see how the bushnell is better? Its heavier, bigger and has less magnification and costs £100 more. Why do so many people pick the bushnell over the nikon?

Its a good question. Maybe it's not better. it would be good to have them side by side and see of they read the same

Partly why I bought the Z6, found the extra magnification made it easier to lock on to a target and prefer the lighter unit. Did try the Nikon but didnt function as well in my fat fingers

I found it was better and quicker picking up the flag as well as being easier to focus and use

Where are you buying from, you can get a Bushnell V3 for circa £225.00

I bought a snooper first, excellent vfm, however I recently 'upgraded' to a Bushnell V3, whilst more expensive it is clearer, quicker and more user friendly than the snooper + the jolt feature works really well. The Bushnell is worth the extra imo.

The cheapest I've seen the bushnell is £239, the nikon is £138.

I guess I will have to try both because at the minute I am struggling to see how the Bushnell is better - in terms of everything, apart from the jolt, the Nikon wins on paper.

Golfspin have them at £239.00 with a further £30 off if bought today before 2pm or £20 off with the voucher code they show after 2pm.

Most people at our place use Bushnell's, either V2 or V3 against the Nippons there is always a couple of yards difference. We put this down to the Bushnell using more satellites and thus getting the answer quicker and more accurately. :D
