What with all the discussions going on at the moment ref big hitter short hitters I have a simple question what would you rather achieve driving a 400yrd hole at your club that has never been done before or get a hole in 1 ??

I have achieved one but not the one I want out of the two choices above !

Hole in 1 - no contest.
Drive a green and you've still got to sink the putt to score.
For me, it's all about the score in a choice like this.

Def Hole in 1. A hole in 1 is 100% accuracy, a 400yards drive missing the hole by 4 yards is still only 99% accurate. Macho yes, but doesnt always mean a better round, what if you 3 putt then, still only par.

Even more so in a comp, you get to buy everyone a drink and let them all know how good it felt. And then if your sensible you can claim it all back on insurance.

Got to be the ace. My wife quite often asks if I had a hole in one when I get home from golf but never asks about the 400 yard drive.

I totally agree a hole in 1 is one of my career goals but ref 100% accuracy I watched a fella at Waterstcock GC hole it on the 14th after thinning the balls off of it and rolled all the way from tee to the hole :D.

have driven many a par 4, only ever had 2 hole in ones, definitely the hole in one for me (tho a hole in one on the par 4 be nice, have lipped out in the past too!)

Driving a par 4 dont count unless its over 400yrd tho ;)

Hole in one. Never going to drive a 400 yard par 4 anyway. Not like the good old days when I played at Wimbledon Common and a lot of the par 4's were fair game for hitting. Now I doubt I even manage those  :(
