Hi guys,

First post but long time reader. I was hoping for some advice on which electric trolley to buy?
I don't mind spending a few quid on it as I want it to last (the course I play at is very hilly) I have been looking at the Motocaddy S3 or the Powerkaddys. I have done a bit of research but many of the reviews and forum threads asking similar questions are years old.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have had my Motocaddy S1 for about 5 years now if that helps regarding durability. If you give a rough idea of what your max budget is then I am sure that you will get some sound advice as to what is in your price range.

hello and welcome. Enjoy!

with regards to your trolley question many many opinions, so much will depend on what your looking for with new versions just out there may be deals to be had or the newer mor compact ones will appeal. Along with the big names (motocaddy powercaddy) Gokart get lots of sparkling mentions.

I'm in the GoKart camp. Great trolley, easy to open for use, automatic speed control and by far and away the best after sales service of a company you'll find!

Number 1 criteria is reliability. I have read threads where people have been going back for repairs monthly, I don't want that and don't mind spending an extra few quid to try and avoid it. I've never owned an electric trolley before so all the gadgets and gizmos I have no preference toward really. As long as it moves forward, the battery has a decent life and lasts me and it doesn't break down then ill be happy. Secondary criteria would be it looks good (vain I know :) and that it folds into a size that will fit in my boot. If it meets these aswell I will be a very happy man

Gokart vote here too. Have had mine 5 years now and its never had a problem with reliability and still on the original battery, although its now struggling to complete 36 holes on 1 charge. Great trolley.

Had the S1 Pro and sold it for the Stewarts S3 Push trolley, less hassle and easier to use, unless you are playing hilly courses I would look at them first

Have a look at the EZICaddy website, apparently owned by the folks who started off PowaKaddy.

EZICaddy are now built in the same factory as Powercaddy and Hillbilly. I have th EZi5 and would advise that you get a lithium battery as they are so much better than the lead acid version.

My trolley is great but as you are playing a hilly course I would talk with fellow members of your club as to their advice.

There is a reason why Motoacaddy and Powakaddy are by far the the best sellers! If things go wrong you can get replacement parts from most decent pro shops and resellers etc. The customer service is superb mostly. My only complaint is that the bushes can go and tilt the bag at tan angle which forces the trolley off line. Also you will need to change the battery quite a few times. So far Ive had 3 batterys, 2 sets of wheels and a new speed controller.....

Ive mates who have tried others but they always go back and are by far the best in the long run. Yes you can save a few quid by going with a cheap brand but you'll end up getting fed up with them breaking down and need fixing. My mate bought a cheapo the other week and is now on his 3rd replacement already!! hes asked for his money back

I would go far to say that Motoakaddy have now caught up to PK and have an excellent range of products and once my current PKl PK Sport which ive had for nearly 6 years now gives up the ghost will be going this way.

My course is around 5.4 miles a round, hilly and I play twice a week!!! Gives you an idea of annual mileage! ;) I need a good trolley to handle that. Worth spending extra cash on Lithium and top of the range model also IMO. Good luck.

I have a Golfstream Evolution, easy to use, has a very simple folding mechanism and so far no issues at all after more than a years running at a very soggy golf course

GoKart. You won't need to mess about buying parts. IF it goes wrong inside the 2 YEAR warranty you ring them up and they send you another one. Also, they do a service thing for £99 that includes collection and return and replace anything that needs replacing and give you another 2 YEAR warranty. I have NEVER read anywhere of ANYONE complaining about anything about the GoKart or their customer service, which is secongd to NONE! Buy anything else at your peril.

Simples !

Had nothing but nightmares with motocaddy, too many plastic joints that break and once out of warranty whilst you can get the parts believe me they arent cheap.

Relaibility was key when I replaced it and I went to the guy who repaired my motocaddy several times and he recommended the Golfstream Revolution, and described it as pretty indestructible. Not the cheapest trolley but certainly as sturdy and robust as any Ive ever seen, had it a year or so now and bar the odd spec of mud its as new.

Comes from a small British company in Kent, who have great service levels.

GoKart. British company and superb after sales service. Just got the automatic version and very pleased with it. Not the prettiest out there but it is functional efficient and if it goes wrong GK know how to look after their customers
