The time has come to replace my driver and i am confused which one to buy. I am floating towards either the R11, R9, Ping G15 or Ping G20. Is there any thoughts out there of people that have actually bought either of these or even is there a better driver that has flown under my radar????

do a search on drivers as there are many threads like this, however, in summary you need to try before you buy and ideally get 'fitted' for one as any answers here will be as varied as the drivers out there.

When I bought mine I went to my local range / pro shop and asked what demo drivers they had and they came back with 5 drivers and gave me a token for a bucket of balls. Just kept hitting balls untill I had eliminated the 4 I didn't want and bought the one I had left (except they gave me a new one!). Still useing it 2 years later with no regrets.

i quite like the titleist 910 d2/d3

agree with the above best to go to a range and demo a few, plus its good fun

Have a look at the Mizuno MP630 std and Fast Track. A great flight with a good amount of forgiveness, there some great deals available since a new model is about to be released.

as most drivers are the best part of £300 i always go to an outlet that is not just out to sell you the latest fad,go and get fitted and try to find one with the latest equipment so you can see the difference in each club and don't go with a closed mind if the best one for you isn't the latest bells and whistle white monster so be it lets face it your buying a club to help you play better and enjoy your game not just to impress your mates,i changed my trusty old girl last year and found the best for me was the previous model of the T.M BURNER awesome driver and was reduced to £139 and they even gave me a dozen nxt balls free

It's actually a question that has no correct answer. Once you make the decision and buy the model of you're choice, you'll see something else and think it may be better. before long, you'll find an excuse to put the new driver, which by then will be misbehaving, onto the naughty step and you'll start the whole process once again ;-)

not knowing about anything about drivers, general concesous is that you should hit lots and get what feels best, and works best for you

i choose my driver before i went into the shop but still hit others, i walked out with what i wanted when i walked in, felt right, had best results on the launch monitor but also the fact its the one i wanted, so i think being happy mentally asll as visual results, are important, could be called the placebo effect, but you need to look in all areas

just my thoughts, probs tosh, just thought i'd give my opinion

Shop around, ask your pro if you can try some out over a few rounds, as I guarantee you will swing it differently from one day to the next.I got fitted for a G20 a few weeks ago and was striping it on the launch monitor. Turns out it was no different on the course to my old driver so it's since been sold....im still looking

I agree with the above. Each and every golfer will have their favourite but that doesn't make it the right choice for me you or Uncle Tom Cobley.

Also agree it's best to try a few and eliminate the ones you dont like thge look of/hil well etc etc

Clubhouse golf are doing this driver for £99 10.5 stiff shaft. Got to be a bargain.

I have a Titleist 910 D3 which I much prefer to my previous Ping G15. More traditional looking head and you can even give it a good smack off the fairway.:)

Shop around and try before you buy ideally on the practice ground at your club or a range so you can see the ball flight and distance for yourself and not you are not reliant on a monitor (which in some stores will be ramped up). As for clubs under the radar I'd recommend a look at the Cleveland range

is the right answer, i purchased r11 about 4 weeks after it come out, my driving was good and very consistent at the time using an 09 burner so went for r11, it was awesome on the trackman, and on the course well hit balls were around 30 yards longer, but i got it so much trouble with that dam white stick that it had to go, and its taken almost 4 months to get my driving back on track.

A big down side with the r11 is the white finish. its un-lacqured so can be prone to chipping, also the 440cc head isnt as forgiving as some of the other models on the market.

What are your reasons for wanting a new big dog...

Have a look in the GM magazine in the shops now. There is a comparison of different drivers on the market ATM.

Also, as Homer says take a look at Cleveland - I'd never thought of them as a brand to buy from but after hitting the 3 wood at an open day bought one and my new 3 wood is fantastic.
