Need to make a decision in the next 30 minutes as to whether to drive the 75 miles and 80+ minutes up to Westwood Golf course in Leek for a meet where the tee times start at 10am.

Nothing here in Coventry now but reports of it hitting Wales and the South West as I write this!

Are you playing today even though Bertha is going to hit or pass through you and would you drive the 75 miles risking £40 in fuel just to be pulled off if lightening starts?

I don't mind getting wet if its sensible but I'm really torn here :mmm:

Will those lightening tracker websites help. It's pretty grey here and looks like it will really pish it down. Don't think we'd be driving 75 miles from here just in case.

Its rained pretty heavy overnight, and its as black as the ace of spades but theres
no wind atm so im giving it a go.
I wouldn't be travelling anywhere though.

The thing in my position is the bad weather is tracking in a North Easterly direction and I would be driving north towards Leek, so, the wind is picking up here now with just some light rain which isn't an issue but the forecasts show some really nasty bright yellow thunder storms coming from across Wales, into the north Midlands and then up through Staffordshire where Leek is!

I'm far from a fine weather golfer but I don't see the point in travelling so far for a meet that would be almost unplayable and with a chance of getting pulled off if lightening starts!

About to head out. Broken cloud and a light breeze. Forecast for showers here from 10 till 12.

I think your OK up to about 3pm Bri, poor weather but more than playable up until then!

Lightening being discussed on Twitter in South Wales and heading this way!

Few showers here but it's brightened up now.

Just about to head out for a 36 hole medal comp so hopefully the worst of it will stay away or it could be a long wet day!

Well its pitch black and torrential rain here in north Coventry now and reports of flooded roads, any golf competitions in the area surely must be being cancelled by the minute!

Time for a big cooked Sunday breakfast me thinks :D

dont go, not worth it. Play locally

I haven't gone, it wasn't worth the risk and courses all over the Midlands are currently closing as were under a deluge of "poor weather", can't say what I'd like to describe it as or I'll get another Sunday morning infraction, this place gets worse!

thunder, lightning and downpour just hit here (Sevenoaks) this minute

Yep. Raining stair rods in Orpington, with some thunder. We were supposed to play a men's match at West Malling at 11am... I'm so very glad we cancelled it last night!

That said, gutted, as I had a eureka moment with my pro yesterday and was really hoping to put it into practice today. Supposed to clear up around 3ish, so may hit the range.

Made it to the 11th tee having had a couple of passing showers up to that point. Heavens opened, lightning started and in we went. Was playing to handicap in medal too.

Its stopped raining here robin, its a bit breezy, rain due back in an hour or so. I expect my course to be either dead or semi open with a few flooded greens, it really came down this morning.
