Myself and 2 mates are planning a round somewhere new on the 22nd Dec. We don't want to be travelling miles and miles, so somewhere within 45 mins of Huddersfield would be ideal. Ideally we are wanting something that can take weather quite well, as we don't really want to be rained off it it can be avoided.

Where in West Yorkshire (45 mins of huddersfield) would you suggest we look at playing?

Hollins Hall, Oulton Hall and Waterton Park are good winter courses as they don't have winter greens. Horsforth doesn't usually have winter greens but check if it has been very cold !

I played Moor Allerton in a torrential downpour this year and it held up very well so reckon it'll be fine in whatever weather. If you can get a deal it's a great track good test and some really nice holes.

Played oulton last Friday was quite wet in places nothing special really
Moor Allerton will be very wet on certain parts of course
Played forest pines today fantastic condition greens best I've ever played in winter fairly quick an veryvery true

Hollins Hall. Played on Monday after a weekend of rain and it was spot on. Never played it off mats, drains really well and you can get some good deals too through the website booking - plus 3 free titliest balls too.

Apologies for the somewhat poor recommendation for moor Allerton, expected it to be a much better winter/rain course!
Its odd, its holds water and the greens get very very soft as do the tee boxes but fairways don't really get boggy.

Best place we've found for a winter round when other courses are closed is Mid Yorkshire, it drains really well.
