Hi all

It has been my goal for a long time to get to a playing handicap of 18 and I have finally achieved this in my last competition so am looking to go to somewhere 'special' that I would not normally consider playing probably in March next year when the weather is hopefully starting to improve.

I have started looking around already to see where I might be able to go and have looked at

Sunningdale – too expensive.
The Berkshire – does not accept single players
Wentworth – does not accept single players unless you pay for one of the professionals to go with you.

I have played Bearwood Lakes a few years ago and enjoyed it and played Hindhead this year so am looking for something a bit different.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where to go or are there any members out there happy for a 'currently' 18 handicapper to go round with me or anyone else wanting to pair up?

My original intention/hope was to go somewhere Iike Wentworth's Edinburgh course as the West is too expensive for me but that plan has been stopped.

Thank you very much

Rich

I may be able to get you a game at the Berkshire next March as my guest in a Society day. Last year it cost £80, which included bacon rolls, 18 holes on the red course, and three course lunch (just about the best lunch around !) Society is negotiating for next year, but not sure how it is going yet.

Now if you can sort this out for H4H next year Rich. :p

Congratulations on the handicap achievement. Out of interest how did you rate Hindhead? I've heard lots of good things about Hankley (never played it though).

Hankley is a superb course. Hindhead is a good one.

100% correct.

Hankley or West Hill would be a nice treat without breaking the bank. Worplesdon is also a good suggestion.

What about The West Sussex? A magnificent golf course near Pulborough. Better than West Hill and comparable to Hankley.

Thank you all for all of the suggestions as I was not expecting many responses. Lots more courses for me to play and I will be putting my name down for H4H next year.

Would love to be considered for the society day. Please keep me updated.

I rated Hindhead quite highly. Everyone was incredibly friendly and the greens were absolutely fantastic. Downhill putts were challenging as you could just tap the ball and it would run as they were quite quick. I ended up shooting 96 there for my first time.
