Did not touch my clubs for 2 weeks, but woke up on Sunday with the a 'good feeling' that today was the day of staying low. The weather was rubbish, but someone had to play the Oct Stableford. Turned up and it was absolutely bucketing down with some lightening.

While the head was in the right place, just could not find my swing. Topped the opening drive just past the ladies to blob it. On the 3rd did not even clear the ladies. 8 points on the front 9 which included one 3-pointer. Ditched the driver and the waterproofs and things improved-- for one hole. With nothing to play for, I was just hacking around..and finished with 20 points. To make it worse, one of the guys in the group with a higher handicap was playing a blinder while I was marking his card and shot 35 points!!

No point having the head in the right place if you dont have a swing..( I rather have it the other way)

I don't think your head was in the right place either.

Playing with lightning around is not smart! Completely barmy in fact!

And the lightning was very close on Sunday! Less than 5 seconds between flash and clap means about a mile and a half. And a couple were almost instantaneous! Downpours were incredible too!

We were playing at Epsom on Sunday. Got to the 7th and it was torrential so decided to put the bag in some trees/bushes to give them some protection and shelter. We could see better weather coming from the other side of the race course. Was standing under the trees and there was a flash and a bang. I decided I'd be a tad better off squatting down in the open especially as we were at the highest point. Was a bit hairy! Played with an absolute beginner but he played in all the rain with no complaint, tried on every shot and still managed to go round in 115 despite the conditions. He'd played Friday in the dry on the course for the first time and shot 124. I was really impressed by his attitude and definitely some potential in there

I'm with Foxholer, going out when there's lightning about is bonkers

We waited a bit for the worst... I could not take a pic, because the hands & phone were wet but still gives an idea of how bad it was..

By the time we got to the second hole, the rain cleared.. and look what we got...

Still shame about my game..

We'd played the opening holes in bright sunshine. As we got to the 4th and headed towards the top of the downs it hammered down. No sign of any thunder until the one flash and immediate clap to show it was almost overhead. I just crouched in the open. We could see good weather coming in and no other flashes or claps. Did worry me teeing off on 8 as the rain hadn't quite finished
