I'm arranging an away day for me and a group of my golf fanatic friends, and I'm wanting to know where the best places to book a weekend of golf.

I'm looking for suggestions of where to play and where to book a good game of golf.

Where are you based

How far are you willing to travel ? Cost ? Players ability

Lots of good places for a weekend golf but all depends on the above

As for where - Your Golf Travel are good , as is Golfbreaks - you can also go to the place direct

Places with two courses and hotel

Hawkstone Park
St Mellion
Belfry
Celtic Manor
Forest of Arden

Lots of places around

Used GolfBreaks before to good effect. Also dealt direct with clubs and hotels and still managed reasonable deals.

If looking to go abroad you can't go wrong with Belek , La Tourqet and anywhere in Portugal

Cut out the middle man, book direct with the clubs themselves.

assuming its in the UK

That's what I do.

And me. We save a fortune. Book Travelodge near a town or with a pub attached early enough can get down to £25 a night. Use a supermarket for cooked breakfasts. Plus this year we're playing in a comp on our first round of the trip, which in turn saves a few quid on the green fee. Three day trip should be about £100 or less this year. (Not counting food / beer at night)

We've been to Prague and Budapest for golf breaks and booked them ourselves as we travel from all over - cheap flights from the Uk, city centre hotel and book the golf, transport direct. Weather is always mid30's in the summer, the courses are very good and both cities offer a quality night out

Prague and Budapest would be beautiful places to go
I went to Budapest for a week, and didn't realise thay had any golf courses. Do you mean I was dragged round all the sights when I could have been playing golf ?:(

If you go to Budapest, you must go to the Opera house. Absolutely stunning place, and I saw my first ballet there.

There's some decent courses in and around Budapest - well worth a look

Some of these tour companies take liberties.

Spoke to one yesterday about a trip to N Ireland to play Royal County Down, quoted £225 its Only£190 on the clubs website.
