Played in a comp the weekend before last and my handicap at the time was 16.4. Had a bit of a nightmare abd shot 25 points so I know I should be getting +0.1 back which I believe would put me up to 17? Anyway due to holiday leave the competitions results won't be done until a week today which I can understand. However, my question really is what handicap should I be playing off as I have 2 comps this weekend so that will be a total of 4 comps played without any adjustments (up or down). I don't want to go up but if I should be playing off 17 and I sign my card as 16 will I get DQ? What if I shoot the lights out and should have a cut down to 14 but continue to play off 16? Is that fair to the rest of the field?

You are duty bound to imement any cut immediately on completion of a qualifying round against SSS until CSS is published.
Any 0.1 backs are not allowed until official results published and h/caps updated by committee do until the results are actioned you stay on 16.

That's a ridiculous situation to be in. the Club should have a handicap committee that can process the results and not just a single person doing it. Results should be posted in a timely manner and not a week after the event IMO. Poor show by the club.

So if I play well on Saturday morning I work out if I should have a cut against SSS and play the following morning based on the new handicap?

Yep, you should cut yourself against SSS but you can't increase yourself until the results are published.

But I echo DCB, Not to have anyone do the handicaps for 2 weeks is just plain daft

Actually, it's 2 weeks after it!!!

Absolutely, there should be some sort of cover.

Policy is still same though. Cuts off SSS; upward adjustments not allowed until results published.

So still play off 16.

You don't get DQ-ed for playing of too low a handicap (you can play off Scratch if you want). You do get DQ-ed for playing off one that is too high!

Entering 4 sets of results could be 'fun' too - might need another holiday! Not only the actual task of entering all the scores times 4, but handicaps on cards versus one on computer will probably mismatch more and more after each comp is closed/published!

Yes if they are separate comps. But still ignoring the 0.1 back you are due....

So ignore any increase and then calculate any possible cut against SSS and apply it myself? Its a good job im rubbish and unlikely to score well enough for a cut as I know ill work it out wrong if the miracle happens and I play well

It's fairly easy really, your cat 3 so any cut is 0.3 per shot under SSS until you get down to 12.4 then it's cat 2 so 0.2.
Cuts aren't something I have to worry about either just managed to roll off scores of 24, 23 22 20 and 19! Worst still there's a pattern to this dross too!!!

Yep- don't envy the person doing the catch up!

I agree that over 2 weeks to wait for comps to be processed is too long

Not only is it too long, but how many of the players actually know they are supposed to cut themselves against SSS. Could be a lot of DQs coming up when the cards are finally entered!!
