Played yesterday in a 4BBB Stableford AmAm, where my front 9 was average, and I stood on the 10th tee +5 Gross......
10th is Stroke 1, a Par 4 of 452yds, dogleg right, and on any day, its a place of damage limitation, the start of Amen Corner at Brough Golf Club, where the 10th/11th & 12th can wreck a card in a moment.
I nailed the Drive to the left of the fairway, opening the green up, and my Garmin watch is telling me 169yds to the middle of the green, .....and I stand over the ball with 6iron, play the shot, and watch the ball fly perfectly to the heart of the green, bounce once, and then check and comes to rest about 10' from the hole.
I miss the putt, but tap in from 4" for the easiest par you could ask for, and suddenly feel like Rory, which inspires me to play the next 5 holes to Par, and I finish the back 9 on +2 Gross, for a lovely round of 75.
So nice when you finally perform how you know you can, just a shame it couldnt count for handicap purposes !!
Oh well.......
