I'm off to Spain on Tuesday for a week's golf at the Barcello Montecastillo course just outside Jerez.
I've just had a look at the BBC weather forecast for the first few days and it's giving maximum temperatures of up to 38ºC, and that's in the shade at noon!
Now I'm all for a bit of sun but that's a little on the warm side.
We have seven rounds booked, the youngest in our party is 56 and we all walk as opposed to taking buggies!
Now I'm not after any sympathy here but any advice would be welcomed.
Oh, and my Bio Cell will bring me victory :whoo:.

Played in 36 Degrees quite a few times in NZ and would have loved to have a buggy.

Drink plenty of water and keep to the shade where possible

Buggy essential to get a bit of cooling and saves the beers roasting in the golf bag. Ice pack in a cool bag left in buggy, canny beat it.

40* in Canada and played everyday, buggies essential for a breeze and to carry drinks. No issues with the heat as long as the humidity isnt high

Playing golf in Spain or Portugal is not like playing over here, it's a different kind of heat.
I find the heat over here oppressive, after 4 or 5 holes I am knackered, but I can quite happily play in temperatures in the mid thirties abroad.

Never too warm - keep hydrated and protected from the sun and away you go

Spot on. Also try and get either an early tee off, or a late one to try an avoid the mid day sun. The day we played Camberley two or three years ago was unbearable.:(

Montecastillo is a nice course but it isn't the easiest walking course in Spain. I would take the buggies if I were you.

We love the course.
We've played a few times before but always prefer walking, although it is a drag from 9th green to 10th tee and from 12th green to 13th tee.
Plenty of P20 and H2O.

My aunty lives just outside Jerez and last year I called her for a natter (she's as mad as a box of frogs but is a great person to have a chat to), she started breathing heavily so I asked if she was okay to which she said it's so hot it almost hurts to breath in.
Buggies, tons of drinks and stay out of the worst of the sun. I would use your brolly as some extra shade when not on the buggy too. No point getting sunstroke on the first day and ruining the rest of your stay.
