Went out yesterday and battled the conditions on the front 9, played well despite the wind taking the pi$$ out of the ball
Back 9 was horrendous, it lashed it down and the greens were unplayable, the ball stopping dead in puddles and making putts react randomly. Both Snellmeister and myself had to laugh and did finish 18 holes but I think we both agreed we should have walked off after 14 holes.

So when do you call it a day? What conditions does it take for you to say "right, this is enough"?

I went out last year solo one morning as there was a light drizzle but a forecast of much worse.
I'm off 28 but started playing quite well.
I got to the 9th Par 3, hit the green and holed a really long and difficult sloping putt for a 2.
I danced as though I'd won the Open.
The rain was now coming down and there was no-one else out but I was "on fire".
I got to the 16th tee and reckoned I was going to finish well under 100 - a first ever.
It's a par three and I could see a pond in the distance with a flag in it.
I splashed down for 1 and when i got there walked all around looking for relief.
There was none.
The 17th wasn't a lot different and I reluctantly conceded and "called it a day".
Insane.

I'd walk off now if conditions were half as bad but I had the "red mist".

It was ok down this way yesterday, but if I knew the forecast was extremely dodgy I wouldn't venture out anyhow. Wind I can cope with and see it as a challenge, if it starts lashing down and you can't keep hold of the club or its turned so cold you cannot feel your fingers then its time to call it a day.

My (still) soaking wet shoes say we should have walked off on the 14th haha

yep, when the greens are holding water, and you are putting through a lake, thats enough in my book

given it a go, had a crack at it , what more can you do?

cold wet and windy, casual water all over the fairway and having to move all putts............thats just not golf.

You're basically walking round a muddy field in light shoes and light waterproofs with a small spade digging holes.........are we mad!
