At our club we play all kinds of formats, but the jewel in our crown is the Friends Across The Border. each week at our course, our golfers are awarded merit points, the top 20 at the begining of September make the team.
next year will be the 25th year of this fixture,
20 golfers from Liverpool against 20 golfers from the Malletsheugh GC. based in Glasgow, each year we have home and away fixture last year we travelled to Glasgow, played at Troon municipal Loch Green & Darley. were we lost the ashes, this year we will take on our friends from Glasgow in North Wales at Prestatyn & Pennant Park.
when we started it was 5 a side and when we travelled we slept in each others homes, now weve gone up market and stay in hotels lol.
this fixture is based on the Ryder cup 10 pairs matches on the Saturday & 20 singles matches on the Sunday, all the matches are hard fought, yet its all in the title we are all Friends Across The Border. roll on September to play the next one.....................

by the way if you ever play golf at Hoylake we are always looking for new members

Sounds like an excellent competition spud, My last previous membership years ago had a competition between the three local clubs, Mount Ober, Ormeau GC and Gilnahirk (where I was a member), They called it the MOG Cup and was bitterly fought on the course but became a drinking session afterwards and celebrations and comiserations took place in a friendly atmosphere.

We play a number of different clubs home and away but I think the best fixture to try and get into is the one with Windsor Great Park. Its played on the course within the confines of Windsor Castle. Very unique and considered an honour to be invited to play in
