Our club had an open on Sunday and a visitor won with 48 points   Well done that must have been some shooting as the whites are well back and there is not too much run yet.

I personally have never heard of more than 44 before from any of my playing partners - whats your best.

BTW Mr48 points got cut from 14 to 10 handicap.

hiya, i am new to this forum so here goes.
my best is 46 points which i have done twice, once in a competition at my home club off 16, got cut to 12 and then 2 weeks later at an away day did the same again but only got cut to 11 then, as standard scratch was about 42 points

48 is a hell of a score. At our club they do not allow visitors to play in the matches at all. In fact Members are not allowed to play in the Stablefords unless they have played in two other handicap qualification matches in the previous 6 months. Harsh rule, but I guess it stops bandits coming in.

48 points by a visitor? I hope someone double checked his h'cap!!!

My best (will never be beaten I guess) was 45 points off a 19 h'cap. Monthly s-ford at my home club.....got wickedly cut...and rightly so. Typical winners around mine make 42-44 points with only 4-6 players per division making 36 or better. Considering the low SSS at mine and the relatively easy design, I wouldn't be surprised by a 46 pointer in an Open. 48 seems only achievable by highish-h'cap who's suddenly found it all clicking into place.

I'vr had 48 points as a junior playing in one of the mens stablefords at Wimbledon Common. Think I was about 14 at the time and off around 16 and it was just one of those rounds.

Wimbledon Common in the summer is a very hard and fast course (very dry) and so a lot of the green are in reach and even though the par 3's are long (the 12th - Queensmere - is 245 yards, and their are 2 others over 230) what you lose on those you can make up for elsewhere.

As I remember it I won the event but only by a shot or two.

I think 44 or so is my best, even on stableford days, I try to stick to stroke mentality so mid 70's keeps me happy, when I dip into the early 30 pointers I get depressed! until the next saturday that is....

49 playing off 28. Seems a shame to say it was disappointing not to have been 50. (Now how cool would that have been ??) Longniddry, summer 2006. I played *$£""ing brilliant, but as said in post about best scores, I got 49, 48 and 46 points in space of three days. And then got back to scoring my normal 28, 29, 32 etc Now getting towards scoring 36 or so off 26

46 off 18 is my best. Our Junior section have ridiculous scores in their stableford comps. Luckily they are not allowed to enter the proper comps or they would all be won by kids. I think the last one was won with 54 points or more, by a 20 handicap.

Our Stablefords are regularly won with 46+ points from 18+ handicaps having a particularly good day. I've found that most high handicappers don't screw up every hole but have 3 or 4 disasters and the rest are ok. if they play their disaster holes decently in the same round they will score high - but it makes it difficult for someone like me to have to shoot around par gross to make the frame.
My best ? Got a 43 once and won but that was years ago
Recently I've had 38's and 39's but not broken 40 for a lifetime.

I got 49 points last Oct one Sunday Morn, off 14. I shot a gross 73. Never done it before or since. I kept waiting for the wheels to fall off but they didn't, only made 2 Birdies but just kept churning out pars.
This came after an awful summer in the comps which prompted me to see my Pro for lessons.

My best is 44 back when I was off 8.

Just had a pal round for a cuppa and this thread reminds me of his finest hour.

Around 4/5 years ago we used to have a Monday afternoon swindle. When our place was too wet (often back then) we would go to Test Valley and play. My mate was off 15 then and coming down so he won most weeks with 40+ which is fine but he is a terrible winner(worse than me) and will gloat all day.

On one glorious day I was drawn with another mate who is off 3 so with me off 6 back then we were having a good competitive round. When we got to the turn he was 2 under gross and I was level par. Our playing partner was egging us on saying "come on,you have got **** in your pocket".

We got to the 12th and both had picked up another shot so when he called across and asked how we were doing we exchanged a grin and told him...........to be met with "Fantastic boys you are playing great,I have 40 points already!"

Needless to say we bogeyed and doubled our way home. He ended up with 52 points and a swingeing cut.
