I've always used a no1 type putter but I've noticed these great big ones seem popular no. Is it just another new fashion to sell !ore or are they better than the standard type

All to do with MOI and preventing face twisting at impact/stability through stroke...similar to the bigger/deeper headed drivers

Whatever you hole stuff with, the vast majority of tour players still use Anser derivatives of one kind or another. Theoretically they will help if you strike a lot of putts out of somewhere that is not the middle of the face (which people in general pay nowhere near enough attention to imo)

suppose it depends on your idea of what big is and whether you put better with one or not. Just use what works for you, if it's what you consider big then it's big. Makes no difference.

you would take a different view if someone did this to you holding you up by keep taking shelter, then popping out of shelters putting out as you where about play your approach shots. then going back in the shelter, only to pop out again and tee off just as you walked off the green. Holding you up again.

Play should be continuous to stop this scenario ... end off .

Wrong thread?

I prefer them as it makes them more stable going back. My old blade was great but it was wobbling everywhere when i brought the putter back.

I bought a blade style because I think the bigger ones are eyesores, and when I got fitted the fitter told me that visuals are actually a big factor (i.e. if you don't like the look of your putter it puts doubt in your mind etc). But my putting has been awful lately and I'm sorely tempted to try one with a bigger, meatier head on it now - to see if I can keep it any straighter on the backswing. Even if I rotate my two putters for a bit just to see if there's any difference.

I had this http://www.clubhousegolf.co.uk/acatalog/Odyssey-Works-Versa-2-Ball-Fang-Golf-Putter.html#SID=670 until the metal face came off. I was given this free by Odyssey http://www.clubhousegolf.co.uk/acat...V-Line-Fang-CH-Black-Golf-Putter.html#SID=670 but have got the Ping Wolverine in the bag http://www.clubhousegolf.co.uk/acat...erine-T-Black-Nickel-Golf-Putter.html#SID=785

All big putters (the O-Works less so) but all very stable and I find the bigger head behind the ball confidence building. They aren't for everyone but well worth looking at in terms of stability. If I had the money I'd definitely had had a look at the Scotty Cameron Futura range

I've got the Versa Works Wide #1.
I just collected it from the club repair guy today after he's had to stick the metal face back on for the second time in 6 months Grrrrr.
Starting coming undone while playing on Monday and had to hold it on with elastic bands for the rest of the round.
I like the putter and the weight but I'm getting neurotic about the face and am getting a bit OCD and am constantly checking it.

My pro sent my Odyssey back and they (Odyssey) said the don't repair them anymore and they offered any putter in the O-works range in exchange

This, I'd always go to the manufacturer for repair as there is every chance they'll send you a brand new one. Had it happen (ages ago) with a Taylormade r540xD where it snapped at the hosel and they sent out a new one. Callaway sent out a new model after some foam broke loose in my dad's driver and was rattling about.

Same issue with Works face on #7. How did you get in touch with odyssey-was it direct or via pro (didn't get the putter in my local shop). I quite want the new WBW O works #7, so if I had the opportunity to swap it for my damaged 7 rather than trying to repair it that would be good.

Took it back to my pro. Didn't have a receipt as it was a birthday pressie but the pro happy to contact Odyssey and send back on my behalf
