Sometimes when you make a pitch mark on the green you dislodge a bit of the green and send it a few feet forward of the mark.
Ive been told not to use this bit of dislodged green when you make the repair is that correct or should i reuse it when i repair the mark

A simple correction to stop this happening is to use standard golf balls instead of hand grenades :D

Sorry, couldnt resist, i've just never known a bit of green to become dislodged before!

Hi
you shouldn't replace it you should push the edge of the pitch mark towards the centre never lift up, push the pitch mark repairer in at the edge of the pitch mark and push gently in towards the centre all around the pitch mark tap down with the putter.

Oh dear. I have been a lifter not a pusher. After watching the youtube clip I realise I havent been fixing pitch marks correctly. The only problem is I dont have many of my own marks to repair as I dont get on the green enough from any distance.

I think I life and push. Not sure, it's that long since I made a divot on a green...

I'll watch that clip tonight and make sure I know how to do it!

Rapper, 9/10 I find the loose bit, you must get rid of it as the grass becomes dead I beleive and causes more harm than good, not like a divot. After I have reparied the pitch mark, I make a point of throwing the loose bit of grass away, off the green!
