Well after just 12 months the cell fusions have sprung a leak. Being sold with the 2 year waterproof back up my local shop is convinced that ill be getting a credit within the week which now gives me the drama of replying the again.

I used to love the fj sports but the older ones always split along the edge of the sole at the front and leak.... But we're comfy as heck, the pumas although not as comfy IMO were a lot more water proof as the have a Gatored tongue that reduces the chance of water coming in through the laces.... I've notice fj have changed the sole shape on this years sports in exactly the place they split on my previous pairs, so I'm left with a few decisions.

New sports?
New cells?
Or is there any others getting good reviews

Looking for something fairly waterproof that is comfy.

Are you still playing? You've not been around for a while... your pro tells me that I'm at your gaff more than you ;)

A few other things have taken a front seat and golf a back seat in more recent months, being playing twice a month at most. Back hacking now and hitting the ball ok ish, missed a cut a few weeks back but wet feet does not help my will to play young sir ;)

Welcome back sir!

As you know I've got the Yellow Adizero's and they've been fantastic this year.

Dry feet all season and very light and grippy to boot.

Highly recommended if you reckon you can pull them off ;)

My feet don't suit the adi fit. 10.5 standard too big, 10wide too small....

Current short list is sports, dry joy tours, lunar 2 or some new puma's

Was just about to reply about what I wouldn't recommend... the Adizero Tours... Obviously some people love them, but I've had a problem with the spikes falling out during the swing and know others have too (sent my review to GM but chances of a negative review being published are slim to none)...

Just be careful, it's a real ball ache to be trying to pop spikes back in after 50% of your drives...

I had a pair of Adidas tour 360's great shoe, very comfy, but the material on the heel wore out to quick and the shoes were no use. So I bought a piar of Footjoy M-Project Spiked, great shoe for the dry, extremely comfy, but even with a 2 year waterproof warrantly, after one wet round my feet were soaked.

That written, my dad had a couple of pairs of Footjoys, first pair leaked, but because they were so comfortable he gave them the benefit of the doubt and bought a second pair, but the second pair leaked as well, so now he won't go near Footjoy at all.

To go along side my M-Projects I bought a pair of Puma shoes, the ones with Squill and IdCell on the side, very comfortable and my feet were kept bone dry after a wet round. IF these Puma's perform as well in the future as they have done recently I'll be buying more Puma shoes when the time comes.

I wish I'd gone with the cells now to be honest. Last year couldn't decide between my lunars and the cells. After 16 months the lunars have spilt on the left foot instep, only small where the upper joins the sole. Didn't feel wet while on the course but when I took them off my sock had a big wet patch! Thinking along pretty much the same lines of shoes as oddsocks so will be interested to see what else gets thrown up. If I had the cash ecco's would be up there but at half the price of a set of irons I just can't justify it!

I had the old Nike Lunars for over a year and never really looked after them properly and mine are still waterproof, I only changed then as I've said on here before for some reason when they get damp they tend to whiff pretty bad, that could just be my feet though!

I've had 2 pairs of FJ now, both AQL and will be going back to them once I've finished with my current pair of Adidas Samba. My last pair of Footjoys, although not quite as comfortable as the Adidas are still waterproof after 4 years where the Adidas aren't after 14 months.

As for the Puma Cell - Heard great reviews about them, but I'm not a huge fan of their design to be honest.

Re spoke of the replies.

Ecco .... Not seen a pair yet that appeal to me... All look like old fart grandad slippers.

Lunars.... It's a shame its a mixed review, these were high on the shopping list.

Pumas... I'm going to defend my cells in respect of they were until the recent hot spell my only pair of shoes, therefore range, practice and all golf was played in these, I got the last July and they were still looking pretty fresh, I think this comes down to the rubberising that the leather has over the top.

I've played in crap weather all through October to April, and some of them rounds have seen me play in pretty much casual water all the way round where fairways were sodden. I think as far as waterproof shoes go they have been the best by miles.

Maybe a cheaper pair of black puma's for the winter and a new white pair for the summer that do not need to be waterproof could be the way to go............ The reason I'm thinking this is while the cells are great in the winter, I find they really make ya feet sweat in the summer.

Glad to see you back and posting Baz!

Well I was, until I saw the reference to old fart grandad slippers - if you mention me by name I will sue

I am now a season ticket holder at the Palace with a golf mate, perhaps one Saturday you and Scotty would like a game before the three of us go to the match?

Stick around mate

My pro and assistants love the Nike shoe over the Adizero, mainly as the Nike has the side stability support over the Adidas, can't remember the name sorry, but its the one at £109 if that helps.

Personally the Adizero is the best shoe I've worn in 2 years, the FJ's (3pairs) have let me down badly and I won't be wasting money on them again unfortunately.

I've got a pair of Puma sport spark, lovely looking shoe and comfy, but not very waterproof i'm afraid, also got a pair of Nike zooms, great shoes and waterproof for two years now, sounds like all shoes get varying reports so it's just your luck what you get, could always just buy a pair of sealskinz socks, no more wet feet regardless of how your shoes perform.

If the shoes fit Chris.... Old fat grandad slipper wearing palace supporter

On a serious note I'm sure Scott would be up for it, my place is coming real good with recent weather, let me know a date and ill sort it with Scott, not seen him since prices so would be good for us all to catch up:thup:

Tbh my lunars have been great and I've worn them a lot in terrible weather and never failed. It's my smaller foot and have a tiny split wear the leather have creased more. Gutted as I've really looked after them, cleaned after every round and polished every couple of weeks or more if they've looked grubby. After about a year my pro asked if I'd bought new shoes as they were that pristine lol!

I've put some super glue on now to see if that will prolong them a bit more.
