Hi all, I keep chopping and changing the selection of the clubs in my bag! I've now gone driver, 3 + 5 woods, recovery club, 5-9 irons, pw, sw, 54 lob wedge, putter. Can't make my mind up on 64 lob wedge or a chipper club? What's people views on the chipper club? What's in your bag?

Am with Davey on the chipper. Use a 7 iron if you want to keep it low.

Don't really think a 64 degree is warranted either. A 60 with low bounce is easy enough to get up to more than 64 degrees if absolutely necessary. What lofts are the current PW and SW? Every chance the SW is similar to your 54 degree. If so, I'd ditch one, get a gap wedge of about 50 and then a 60 if needed - but that's personal preference.

I go:

Driver - Titleist 913 D3
3 Wood - TM RBZ II set to 13.5
Hybrid - TM RBZ II set to 16.5
3-PW - TM RBladez Tour
52 - Cleveland 588 RTX
58 - Cleveland 588 RTX

You either really are a newbie, or this is a really bad windup. If you're a genuine newbie, the answer is neither and you have no idea what you've just started, if you're on the windup, you must try harder :D

get a half decent chipper in there. it will be more useful to you than a 64 wedge. many would benefit from a chipper if only they would swallow their pride!

i've spotted a chipper in American golf with a nice rounded leading edge. much less likely to fat this than any iron.

Hopefully getting the AP2 for my Birthday at the start of February, along with the Wedge.

The Hybrid should arrive next week and that my bag complete for the year!

Good work - nothing better than feeling comfy with your clubs

A good way is to carefully select your setup from performance in practice and consistency of gapping between clubs.

The rest comes from ability and personal preference. I personally dislike woods and prefer irons off the tee.

Never tried a chipper but I don't really see the problem with them. The aim of the game is to get the little white ball into the hole in as few shots as possible,if this helps then why not?
