Been playing around with my clubs this year with regards to what to take on to the course. The constants being my driver, irons, wedges and putter. I've been having issues with my hybrids so currently gaming my Mizuno MP H4 4 Iron which I'm hitting really well, what I'm stuck on are my fairway woods, are they too close together...I hardly use the 5 wood (19 deg) when game the 4 wood (17 deg).

Should I ditch the 5 wood for a ~20deg hybrid or ditch the 4 wood for a 3 wood? Would welcome views from the forum and thought processes you have gone through when selecting longer irons/hybrids/fairway woods combinations.

I carry a Driver 3w, 5w and 3h which gives me options from tee and fairway. In summer I sometimes switch out the 3h for a 7w to give me a better flight into some tight greens.

The 3w provides a good alternative to the driver on shorter/tighter par 4s. If you might use a 3 off the tee you could drop the 5 wood and add a strong 3 (13*/14*) or drop the 4w and add a standard 3 (15*).

Another option is drop the 5w and add a 7w.

It depends on your course though. Are there any holes that require shots that you don't have a club for?

Thanks for your thoughts. I play at Calcot Park , Berkshire, and I would do well to take a 3 wood off the 14th tee in the summer, I play with a fade and right of the fairway falls away.

Not considered a strong 3 wood, may give that a go.
