Money List Winner
Evening all...
Some will have known about my post last weekend about getting frustrated with my game..
Im one of these people that have to figure out things for themselves to get satisfaction from it.
So from being completely flattened for the past few months about the state of my game i decided to grab the bull by the horns and try a few things...
As Bob has said to me..I cant get any worse
So i set up a net in my back garden at the start of the week and spent 2 hours every night moving things from what i had been used to doing and just hitting endless balls into it.
Today i decided to go to the range mainly so i could get to see the flight of the ball and work on a few more things..
Anyway what transpired kinda had me stuck for words..
All week I concentrated on my tempo slowing my swing down to what i thought was very slow but i felt like i was striking the ball better.
Cue the first 10 balls with my 7 iron.
Everything i hit had a really soft draw..My left to right shape had gone
...
Why? I have no idea..
I was set completely square..I know that my grip is pretty ok so i left that be...
I stood a little closer to the ball than i had been but here's the weird bit.
I consciously moved the weight back on my heels a little before i took the club back on the backswing...
Im not sure what this did but now my balls are going right to left...
How is it possible to go suddenly from fading/slicing the ball to drawing the ball with the odd hook for good measure?
And just so it wasnt a one off i took 6-PW with me plus my Driver and a 21 degree rescue and it was the same with these. And i messed about opening and closing my stance and i was able to hit it left and right..
Is it possible that taking some pace off the swing..Swinging at the ball rather than hitting at the ball could have produced what has happened.
Has this happened to anyone.
I have a comp in the morning but i just hope that i can trust the ball flight now and aim accordingly.
Would a slow down of the swing coupled with less bunching of the fingers of my right hand on the grip and a slightly inside the line backswing have me hitting the ball like i did... My head was steady and my feet were not as far apart as they had been in previous weeks..
And i tried ever so hard to not rise out of my posture before impact.
Im not sure what has happened in a week but i came away from the range tonight confused and excited at the same time. A bit of a medley of emotions.
