finished work early and me and the lad nipped to the range for a quick 200. i selected a 5 wood to try as i felt i needed something to give me a longer shot off the fairway. anyway i started on the wedge to loosen up and a wicked right to left side wind was landing the ball 25 ft left of the target yet amazingly when i (and the lad) picked our drivers up they went straighter than ever AND flew well over our normal distance (210ish) and just seemed to carry on travelling up and disappeared some 240 plus into the gloom.we both just looked at each other and said what the**&&**** hell is happening. it was unreal did the side wind help create back spin and keep it up there??we came off the range buzzing

If you were slicing the ball into the wind, that and the actual direction of the wind could be carrying the ball further.

Could it simply be the range has new balls? These balls get abused so much that they will fly less and less over time!
