In light of certain topics where we look to carry a GPS or laser for distances, I was wondering what amount of yardage markers you have at your clubs?

I only have 150yd markers, I would like 200 and 100 to be added and have just requested so and it would seem that my request has been accepted, for the 100yd discs in the fairways initially by the secretary.

If you have 100yd markers and you ball is only a mater of a few paces in front of it, would you still get your laser out?

Our track has 200, 150, and 50 yard maker plates sunk into the fairways.

We also have wooden stakes marking 150 yards on holes.

More than enough IMO.

We have 100, 150 and 200 posts and we are installing discs in the fairway at the same yardages.

I use my GPS when near a marker as I don't always want the yardage to the middle of the green, and when I used a laser I would use that as I wanted a yardage to the flag, not the middle. I have of course now seen the light and realised that the yardage to the flag is pointless for most club golfers.

I should add that I don't even look for the posts so I wouldn't know if I was in line with them or not.

We have discs at 100,150 and 200 plus conifers either side of the fairway at 150. And yes I always get the laser out as the discs are to the middle and sometimes can be difficult to tell where on the green the flag is. For eg, at our 9th have been on the disc but lasered almost 120 when the flag is close to the back edge

We've got the plates which I think suffice.

I don't user a laser but if I did, would still be using it if I was a few yards in front / behind a marker just to double check. Some of the plates at ours don't always 'feel' right and if the flag is either front or back, can be 20 yards out.

If you're in the habit of using a laser, think you'll still use it even if you're near a plate. I still glance at my garmin watch when next to them, just for reassurance more than anything else.

We have 100, 150 and 200 at the side of fairways although their accuracy on some holes compared to what my GPS says leaves a lot to be desired. I wish the lcub had had the foresight to install fairway irrigation and placed yardages on the sprinkler heads. I always find these much more useful and they tend to be more accurate as they never get taken out, moved and put back in a totally different place

Just wait until you smack a great drive and watch it bounce sideways after catching the disk in the fairway !

We have post and fairway disks at 150 and 100 on all par 4's and add a 200 on the par 5's.

We have markers at 100, 150 and 200 (dependent on the hole and whether it is relevant). Largish yellow posts at the edge of the rough with black bands; 1 = 100, 2 = 150, 3 = 200.

only 200 markers on 1 or 2 par 5's. I use my gps for most approach shots in comp play. if I am just practicing I will just glance and the posts and pick a club that feels right.

I much prefer sticks at the side indicating the yardage rather than stones. it makes it a lot easier to see the layup distance if you are out of position on a par 4 or just laying up on a par 5.

200, 150 and 100 yd discs in the fairway.

I don't use a laser so don't know if I'd still use one when near a marker. More often than not I'm aiming for the middle of the green, so they're plenty good enough for me.

Just 150 markers for us. I think thats fine for what we need. But what i would like is a sign on the tee as to the position of the flag. A few of the greens are raised so no way to tell where it is.

Countless sprinkler heads on all fairways that all have distance marked on them and don't follow a pattern of distance to green i.e it could say 129, 87, 106 just depends where the sprinkler was sited

Plus plates for 150 & 100 & posts for 135

So only ever a few paces away from a distance marker (as long as you stay on the short stuff)

edit: pin positions for the day are on separate sheet

I've never seen my ball bounce sideways on a fairway disc (we have 100, 150, 200) but I have managed to hit a 150 yard post.

I've also managed to ring a fairway bell from 120 yards away which caused great consternation to the people playing on the adjoining fairway who were looking round trying to see who the invisible bell ringer was!

I had to give this some thought before replying as it's been that long since I looked for them I couldnt quite remember what we had! From what I recall we have disks at 200/150/100......I think

Just 150 markers, to the centre of the green, I use them more for my set up shot (tee shot on par4s, 2nd shot on par 5s) then get my laser out for my (attempted) approach!

We have yardage markers (in meters) on all the fairway irrigation lids. Furthermore, during the annual international four day Youth Tournament, coloured discs are inserted at 50, 100, 150 and 200 meters.
And to put the icing on the cake we've had bird nest boxes on trees at 150 meters for at least the past 25 years. Many of the boxes are used every year by a variety of birds and one by a red squirrel although that box was meant for a bird of prey.

We have 200, 150 and 100 yard metal discs in the middle of the fairway.

we used to have various colour at various distances, which were tied in to buying a yardage chart, but before they were removed the yardages were marked on them. All our yardages have always been to the front edge of the green.
