There is a course close by my house and i go past it walking my dogs at least 4 or 5 times a week.

parts of it run along the Caledonian Canal and as i walked though the course in the daylight today, i noticed every flag was missing on the Canal side holes . Spotted further on all lying on the frozen Canal along with half a dozen tee box markers. this happens pretty much every time there is Snow and has been happening like this for a number of years.

the course insist on having two flags on every hole, one the main green the other a winter green. its not a club that has a lot of money, so you would have though the green keepers would take the flags in every time it snows.

but no, must cost them a few quid in lost flags every year.

Torvean ? Just plain stupid if it happens every time there is snow or the canal freezes.

yep, and the pond thats on the 17th has 3 lots of tee box markers sitting on the ice as well. the last lot of snow we had a week ago, i spotted a kid walking the other side of the CC with 3 flags over his shoulder..!

See it happen a while back a Close House, A couple of the holes run adjacent to the old wagon way, which is now a public foot path, some drunk goons, nicked a couple of the flags and were jousting with them while on mountain bikes, it was just a shame they were to drunk to hit one another.

Would this be Nairn Dunbar Patrick?

^^^^ not the dunbar, caley canal would be a very good throw to dump a flag in from there.

Given what the future has in store for Torvean I doubt a few flags are a big worry, at least if the numbers being chucked about by the press are to be believed

have you read the article that mentions the development, starts off all possessive, then reveals the figure is a load of rubbish and nothing could be built anyway

Never read the article, saw the figures being quoted so knew there was a lot of rubbish to be seen

Funny enough i have the new course plan, my good lady works for SNH and a part of the proposed course is outside their building so are consulted on planning.

makes Fairways look like a flat course;)
