Quiet day at work, so I'm on GM forum today :-)

Reading some posts about best score etc., I wonder this - what would make you more happy:

  • Shooting a few under handicap on a very easy course, or
  • Shooting a few over handicap on a very hard course?
Personally, looking back, I've been happier shooting a few over on hard courses such as Royal Lytham, St Andrews. Obviously it also depends on the conditions of the day, competition, etc.

Hmm, not an easy question. I guess I expect to shoot my handicap or better on an easy course so the latter...

Definitely the latter.
Played Kauri Cliffs in NZ off second (longer) set of ladies tees one over handicap, and still consider it my best ever round of golf

A good question.

For me shooting under handicap on any course is my preference.
Purely because I played better than my handicap says I should,so to me a very good round.
Over handicap on a tougher course tells me I played worse than I should do.
My best round on my home course recently has given me more pleasure than my over
handicap round at B@B recently even though they are chalk and cheese when it comes to golf courses.

Definitely the latter. I shot 8 over my handicap at Carnoustie championship on my first playing of it in a 3 club wind. In those conditions, I was very pleased!!!

The latter definitely! Was chuffed to bits to break 80 round Harlech & Turnberry a couple of years ago!

Option 2 for me every time, I beat handicap at my 9 hole club All the time but can I crack the Hotckin? Can I hell! All I want to do is a sub 80 round this year on the hotchkin and I will be a very happy golfer :D
